GALKAYO, Somalia July 20 (Garowe Online) - Agents working for Somalia's Puntland regional government arrested a high school teacher in the town of Galkayo yesterday, the region's education association chairman told Radio Garowe.

Isse Habad Alasow, a teacher at Galkayo's Omar Samatar High School, was detained by Puntland Intelligence Service agents from his home, according to Mudug Education Association Chairman Abdirahman Ali Daqare.

The PIS agents "did not provide a reason" for the arrest, Mr. Daqare told Radio Garowe during a Sunday interview, although he indicated that he was previously "informed" about an investigation into the teacher.

The detained teacher is reported to be from Mogadishu and was working in Galkayo in recent months. Locals have attributed his arrest to an ongoing security crackdown in Galkayo, which has recently been the scene of a number of deadly bombings and assassinations.

Wen they arrested the 9 students from Central, everybody knew they were held by PSI. If they had anything against Hawiye, they could have executed those 9 men without taking them to the Bossaso High court If PSI had this guy, they would have taken him to Bossaso high court.
