Shirib,

The Jareer also have grievances about your qabiil's misappropriation of their land, slavery and abuse. So don't blame being a victim when you also victimized others in the past.

Nolol Cusub,

I am all for regional governance but against BANTUSTANs loyal to Ethiopia like SOmaliland and Puntland.

Foreign affairs, monetary policy and national security should and must be in the hands of the central authority.

Islamist especially the Shabab are the only group able to bring some semblence of order in the chaotic south but one must wonder what are their plans now, what type of state do they want to run, they will be unrecognised by Intl community, economically blocked, they have no allies aside from "Al Qaeda" and want to remain in a perpetual state of war with gaalo till the Mahdi arrrives...what to do what to do

.In dilka isbaariistuhu yahay mid aan wax kasoo qaad lahayn.

.In wixii isbaariistuhu geysto lawaafajiyo shareecada islaamka.

Its a widely know and accpeted fact that Gedo belongs to MR and Hiiraan to Xawaadle..but Mogadishu?? other than Abgaal who else??

The rest of Somalis ..thats who..

Hiiraan is diverse.

Xawaadle, Gaaljecel, Baadicadde, Jajele, Udejeen, Dir, Sheikhaal, Makane, Reer Aw Hassan, Ceyr, Murusade live in that region.

No group has hegemony, and they all balance each other out.

NC,

Your choice for regional development is sound, but the examples you took are shaky. Puntland and Somaliland have all pursued agenda's which ran against Somali National Security, and have become de facto protectorate's of Ethiopia.

Becoming a de facto protectorate of Ethiopia is as worse as not having regional administration.

Insha allah, people of Hiiraan, Banadir, Gedo, Baay/Bakool, Jubba's will move towards peacefull internal development and the creation of regional administrations.

Well, ever since the civil war Islamic groups have been the only groups to work together across tribal lines.

Keeping the tribes distrustful of each other and propping up regional or local warlords is a cornerstone of Ethiopia's policy of keeping Somalia divided. So, ofcourse they would love to see multiple Somalilands/Puntlands in the South. Why play into their policy?

You will only get a Puntland or Somaliland in the South if you conform to Ethiopia's policies, which will ensure Ethiopian dominance.

I think we should adopt the Islamic model because it has been shown to have 2 characteristics which are critical to ending the Somali civil war.

1. It is a medium by which all the tribes can be united and free from animosities.
2. It neutralizes Ethiopian influence in the region because they cannot have regional warlords who do their work for them. In this sense, both Somaliland
and Puntland are, for all intents and purposes, regional warlordships. As you can see, they have no trust of each other or goodwill towards each other.

If we have these 2 conditions, the civil war will end in Somalia.

Also, keep in mind and Islamist movement in Somalia would at least be ours, we can moderate it according to the needs of the people. There is a lot of leeway and flexibility in Shari'ah.

Policy created in Addis and implemented by remote control is not ours or something that is in our control. They only seek to help a few and keep the masses suffering.

Indeed it is proactive step. The elders know what is like to be in war for so many decades and they don’t want kids and warlords with foreign agendas ruining their traditional lands. This particular centre might become the base for progressive Gedo. The elders have to be given all the support.

Most Somali people fall easily for the propaganda of ambitious people. These people make everything either black or white. They say it is either the professional Ethio-warlords or religious groups. What they forget is the traditional Somali clans who are the boss of their lands. They are the ones the future lies with. With help of the experienced modern generations the traditional Somali subclans must reassert their prominence once again and be the organizers of regional administrations that would bring about new Somalia.

Supporters of alshabaab and other religious groups

Your views are mainly based on idealism and not practical consideration and this particular discussion is not the one to have .

The excuses for those who neglect their regional duty

“Oh the region is diverse, oh there are so many sub-clans in our regions” “ What about Somaliland and Puntland, they are Ethio stooges”

Whether such statements are true or not does not excuse one from not thinking about an administration for their families and businesses. The fact that there has not been a single meeting regarding this issue shows how much importance the enlightened groups attach ordering their lives.
