But we rarely stop and think about the damage it does, specially if its a person close to us e.g. a spouse or a companion. We can turn a blind eye to it, but our concience eventually catches up to us, not to mention losing the person due to such foolishness and then having to live with that realization for the rest of your life. I think it was Sun Tzu who wrote that sometimes not reacting is the best action during a confrontation, than having to live with a lifetime of regrets.
