Lol yes... or perhaps its worth to stay longer in post 16 education completing traditional A-levels in order to enable entrance to a good red brick University... I guess studying law or any of these academic social sciences would not even be such a bad idea.. That is- if you graduate from a red brick Uni with a decent rep. However, lets be honest most metropolitan Universities require like 160-200 Ucas points whilst majority of red bricks want between 300-360 bracket... And that is why- LLB courses in the UK are overrated because, pathetic colleges turned 'Universities' are letting everyone in with their low entry levels...*Nobleman* wrote:LaQaNyO wrote:Law is not a vocational degree... it is more of an Academic Degree... You can hardly put law in with the rest of those subjects. Its a well respected, vocational degree, and if you have a good CV you're unlikely to be unemployed. There's opportunities for law graduates in many areas outside the legal world.
You need to put it in the list above accountancy lol!
I agree, stick to traditional degrees or vocational ones that land you straight into a career... like NHS courses or Teaching![]()
Ps: i talk from experience.... Social Sciences
Exactley my point mate. I got tons of family and freinds that struggle to find decent jobs after uni, becuase their degrees were not vocational or traditional. Sometimes its worth going uni for longer, just to get a quality degree.

Why don't any Somalis study Engineering or IT, the only majors with a lot of potential. I never heard of a Somali programmer and look how crappy all the Somali websites look like..
I can't stand people that study ''Political Sience'', ''Law'' or ''Sociology'' etc

There are of course no stats on this so we can only assume, but Somalis in general don't study difficult fields such as IT, Engineering, Math/Physics etc..
Re: Law School Scam: More students fewer and fewer jobs!
BTW
The most useful studies for Somalia are probably Agricultural science, Crop management etc, Urban planning and Information Technology (IT).

FAH,
You have to pave the roads of Belet Weyn, or else who will. Drop Political Science and study Engineering

Fah, dawwa makes sense, check out all the major Somali-websites, they all have bad design, bearing in mind website design is probably one of the easiest fields in IT.
somalis should major in Medicine and Engineering for now and maybe 20 years later we can set focus on scientific discoveries
phsycology, social science, political science are all silly excuses for education

Snoop, one of my sisters has a Masters Degree in International Law, She works at an embassy in Addis Ababa, it's not always useless (Law) but still not a good major.

not everyone can be a doctor or engineer

Re: Law School Scam: More students fewer and fewer jobs!
not everyone should be, but in the case of somalia Doctors and Engineers are in HIGH demand, Law is good but regarding Somalia what you can offer is little compared to a Doctor or Engineer.FAH1223 wrote:lol, let people do what they want mandawwa9 wrote:Snoop, one of my sisters has a Masters Degree in International Law, She works at an embassy in Addis Ababa, it's not always useless (Law) but still not a good major.

Law should be inlisted with high proffessions such as Medicine and Engineering but because you study europian laws and not islamic and somali laws i find it hard to see how you can contribute significantly to somalia using your proffesion.
my bro is one if not the best qualified IT expert somalia has, he makes big sacks of money when he wants not confined to weekly payments but still his proffesion is not as in demand in somalia as it is outside.

you can help your people in a lot of ways besides building and medicine even though i agree they are the highest in demand because there are so many wounded and so little infrastructure
