What I meant was "race" isn't something you can decide on. Its basically a decision made by society depending on which one of the superficially created "races" you most closely resemble. So you can say your not black all you want but Arab (cause maybe a thousand years ago some Arabian had children with your great-great grandmother) but it won't matter if you get lynched by the KKK cause you happen to have drove into the wrong gas station in rural Georgia.

For example: In America Barack Obama is seen as black even though his mother was white......in Brazil he would be considered "pardo" which simply means brown or an individual of mixed ancestry in their society.....while in Arab countries he would take the race of his father

So race is basically just created by people and has no foundation on some genetic truth.

I've lived in America since '93 and during my entire time here white, black, hispanic, and asian Americans have viewed me as "black". Yeah I know some Somalis look more arabic and indian but the overwhelming majority of us are viewed as black under the American conception of race. In Africa, we may demarcate ourselves as habesha, cushtic, bantu, dinka, etc. and see significant differences between our phenotypes but in the end most of the rest of the world views us as black Africans.
