Did he not seduce eve first, and she in turn convinced adam to eat from the forbidden tree? He tempted her first, so Im going with option 1.

No, shaytaan didn't seduce Eve first, that's the Christian concept. Shaytaan whispered to both of them, it doesn't say he whispered to Eve first, and she in turn told Adam (as), instead they were both whispered to, and they both decided to eat from the forbidden tree.

Nowhere in the Qur'an does it put blame on Eve, or does it say that she had eaten from the tree before adam (as) and it doesn't even hint that she was the seducer, temptress, deceiver etc.. Both Adam and Eve committed a sin by eating from the tree, they both asked for forgiveness, and their Lord forgave both of them. Putting the blame on Eve is not an Islamic concept, nor is Eve responsible for the pain of child-bearing inflicted on women, as a consquence of her actions, because she didn't seduce Adam (as).

"O Adam dwell with your wife in the Garden and enjoy as you wish but approach not this tree or you run into harm and transgression. Then Satan whispered to them in order to reveal to them their shame that was hidden from them and he said: 'Your Lord only forbade you this tree lest you become angels or such beings as live forever.' And he swore to them both that he was their sincere adviser. So by deceit he brought them to their fall: when they tasted the tree their shame became manifest to them and they began to sew together the leaves of the Garden over their bodies. And their Lord called unto them: 'Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you that Satan was your avowed enemy?' They said: 'Our Lord we have wronged our own souls and if You forgive us not and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be lost' " (Quran 7:19:23).

Thanks for that, I think maybe the concept of eve tempting adam might be cultural thing because that's what a lot of people are taught.

No problem walaal. Culture? As in Somali culture? I haven't been taught that. But growing up I've come to realise that Somali culture treats women rather unfavorably, along with many other cultures. :|

Yea all culture, there are some traditions which say, eve tempted adam with wine, hence why wine is considered root of all evil.

Which culture is this piece of gem from? There's a Somali phrase that actually says "Wixii xun ba xawaa leh" which shows that the blame is always put on the women, and they're using Hawa (ra) as a scapegoat, Na’uzhu-billah!

Orthodox Christians are on one extreme, by believing women are to blame for everything 'cause of Eve, and staunch Atheists/feminists are on the other extreme, by putting all the blame on the man's front door. However, Islam is just and balanced. It outlines the man's nature, and the woman's nature, and assigns each gender their role in society. Both male and female are equal in worship, and they can each attain Paradise based on the fruits of their labour. But by helping each other the journey will be easier because it will provide companionship, support and tranquility which highlights the importance of marriage. Everything makes sense in Islam.

Warsan_Star_Muslimah wrote:It is a Channel called 'Islamchannel' you can watch it online, it is a UK T.V. channel. They have Live IslamQ&A sessions (usually after Maghrib - UK time 8:24pm), sometimes I prefer some Sheikhs to others. I think anyone from any country can call. In the UK if you have the certain landline it is free (and most people have it), it usually ends early (1hr including breaks) and quite a few people call. It is beneficial alhamulilah.

The channel is quite diverse too. It has two Somali sisters as presenters, and it speaks to plenty of the Somali UK muslims on shows and etc.

Hey sis, how come you don't have pm?

Warsan,

Thanks alot for the link sis. I gave the site a quick look, it sounds promising. Funny thing is, I was working on some work related tasks and then out of the blue I heard the call for the prayer (Al- Adhan) i thought for a second I was hallucinating but it was coming from islamchannel site (i forgot to close the tab). It was very nice, i prayed for you that Allah rewards you.

The pm!, there was someone who was trying to annoy me!

Thanks again sis :rose:

Yalaxoow, were they too speaking Somali?

Jokes aside, in surah Alhijr verses 26-44, Allah mentions that He swt by His own hands has created Adam from sounding clay which was made of mud. The clay was left to dry and in drying its color blackened and after shaping it, Allah gave it soul. Allah swt said: (Walaqad khalaqna al-insana min salsalin min hama-in masnoonin). Scholars explained the meaning of hama-in: as a mud that changes to black & word masnoonin they said it means that which changes. And Allah knows best.

In addition to the Quran, it was narrated from our prophet in which he said Allah has created Adam from a handfull of soil which was gathered from all over the earth and accordingly that is how children of Adam looked; there is the white, the red, the black and those in between................and Allah knows best.
