People need to get married before it's too late..

MS, let's be realistic here, 29 for a female is just too late, by the time you have your first kid you are like 33, even though I'm against getting married at a young age, I'd like to have a kid or two by the age of 26.

Getting married at young age may have made sense 50 years ago, but in this day and age when people are living into their 80s, I don't see why it would be ''weird'' for a woman to hold off marriage until she's 29. I think it's very realistic. Get your shit together and then, if you're ready, get married. There's no point in rushing into marriage just because everyone else is doing it or because you're afraid of what others will think of you or for some other stupid reason.

I'm still laughing at the person who made the comment about a woman getting married before 26 and then waiting until she was 45+ to find a job. There's nowhere it says a person has to get married for their existence on this earth to be complete, let alone a person has to rush in to it because of time running out. Its a personal choice. First accomplish all you need to accomplish, establish yourself and then if you find the right partner, go for it. The worst mistake you can make is feel rushed, because then it will lead to desparation and trust me you don't want to be desparate when looking for a spouse. Because then you'll end up making the biggest mistake you can make by settling for the first loser who you think is ready to marry you. When we came to the west, our life style has changed, getting married and having children isn’t as “easy” as it used to be. Or isn’t as bigger deal as it use to be. My cousins back home in Somalia who is younger than me worry more about getting married than me. It doesn’t even mean much to me until about a yr ago. Why? I don’t know, maybe is something to do with the fact that women now realised there is more to life than just getting married, is better for a girl to educate herself and get a career before getting married. I hate the idea of getting married, having children THAN going to university and all. That might work for some people. But honestly is worth for a woman to get her degree and career out of the way before getting married. And plus age isn’t a bigger issue in here as it was back home. Most girls back home get married in their early teens. But here I don’t think its issue because there is so much you have accomplished before getting married that you don’t feel worried or guilty that you getting “old” but if our man chooses to marry a teens rather than educated women, than I guess they have long way to go in getting the perfect wife. I personally rather a man who’s educated and has a career than a teen boy! But I guess is different with our men as they still caught up with the age.

One thing ive seen in my good years are, all the Educated somali womans try not rush to get married, but they only realise what they did were wrong and that is too late , i have few family members (female) who thinks their careers and Business is more Important then to get married have a Kids and Thats (BULSHID..

So Ladies Dont fall for that trap, get married in good Time, and have couple of Kids raise them good, and then by the age of 45+ you start your own Business and Your kids will be in Universities or maybe work as well..

but 26 isn't too late, it's the perfect age don't you think? is it not better to have a career prior to getting married? who's going to employ a 40+ female, as for the self employment...you can hardly call it a career if you're basing it on the somali way of doing it?

Career first, then marriage.... after a couple of years have children = the best way forward, and if a female is 29 at that time then she's still got plenty of time left.
