Its unnecessary, causes undue attention to oneself (therefore not really being modest) and most important has no backing in Islam- read the Hadith narrated by Aisha RA for proof. Stop disagreeing for the sake of it and look at the facts.

Like Executive said, should there be a fatwa against WEARING GLOVES also...its the same exact case, your point is weak

How is a woman wanting to fully cover herself bring undue attention to herself?U can say that you bring undue attention to herself by wearing the hijaab, thus not being modest...again your point is very weak

I will never marry a niqabi or any of these new bidah's , I just hate it when baddow people make religion harder on themselves.
However I support the notion that modesty must be preserved 100 % .
And I'm also sceptical to the fatwa runners with no good fundament.
However I don't like hardheaded conservatives...

I am truly amazed at the majority of the people in this thread. How is a women who wears niqab going to affect you, is it going to affect you from following your deen?
I've noticed that the people who are against niqab are the ones who have little knowledge of islam or they don't follow the deen properly - their motto is 'if I'm not wearing niqab, then why should you?'

It offends me because they over simplify the concept of hijaab, because they don't understand the purpose of it. They read modesty to mean invisibility, when it's meant to be about being humble in yourself and the way you present yourself.

niqab is totally un islamic and its based on pre islamic teachings,

niqab its 100% arab traditions pre islamic society in arabia women use to wear niqaab, even christians arabs in Iraq and syria just 100 years ago use to wear niqaab.
