It's not important to adhere and restrict yourself to just one Madhab.There are many scholars out there. Classical scholars have their pros and cons. They were not infallible and in fact made many mistakes. In the end only take from people who have knowledge and present proofs.

Madhabs are important because they deal with Fiqh, and which essentially is Islamic law. Now, it is important you follow one Madhab since they can differ, in most cases they don't. The reason why it is recommended to follow one is because picking and choosing what you like, can be dangerous. I doubt you the average muslim can conclude which one has sounder case, forgive me for doubting your abilities, but it stands that you need high level of knowledge in Islam to determine such rulings and etc.

With all that said, you are allowed to follow certain rule from another madhab!

Shafi'i madhab does not encourage pharonic method of circumcision I'm just shocked you would just come out with something like that, just like that. Both you and me, know this is a pre-islamic tradition, one that is done by non-muslims too. Furthermore, there is no African traits to the Shafi'i madhab, it covers are large geography all the way to Malayasia!

the Imaam's can be wrong therefore you should not stick to one madhaab and blindly follow it, all the 4 Imaam's have said if anything I have said contradicts quran and sunnah then don't follow it.
