If you have no support in Burco, you have no support elsewhere.

All those myths of Shabaab having close ties with Burco's prominent religious folks are nothing but myths. Shabaab may have ignited a small spark in the hearts of reer burco in the beginning of their struggle, but that spark has been put out as soon as their blind agenda and devious ways have come to light.
I've attended a friday prayer in Burco's masjid where Sheikh Ali Warsame was present, Dahir Aweys brother in law. The khutbah was about the misguidance of the muslim ummah in present day, he mentioned Al Shabaab and the fitnah they're causing, including Dahir aweys. He also mentioned how it was mentioned that the muslim ummah will break up into smaller fragments and is a sign to judgment day. It was quite surprising how he drew a direct colleration between the sign and Somaliland/Somalias case.
