I watched it on BBC, they needed a gay somali character to reflect the ethnic minority in Cardiff, the biggest community being Somalis, i think the story was about the change that had occured in the Docks and the surrounding area. He was not the only gay charachter, two other black characters were also gay. The Somali character also spoke in Somali with English subtitle provided.
