I believe somali society is one of those few societies where arrogance, pride and ignorance is celebrated, a example would be the socially excepted norm of raiding camels and boasting about it, just imagen a thief stealing a handbag and bragging about it, now can a civilized and moral muslim justify or take pride in such a behaviour or even find it exceptable, No, but in somalia such behaviour is celebrated and deemed heroic.
in somalia enslavement and historical prejudices are a source of pride or either total ignored, ask some of these somalis how they feel about enslavement, they will tell you with a sense of pride " we somalis where never enslaved, we used to own slaves", that sense of arrogance, pride and ignorance shows you that any person with a history of enslavement or lowcast status is forever doomed in somali society, and that person is in essence deemed has "nobody", that shows your the moral foundation that the somali society is build upon, it is a flawd and ignorant mentality that has no sens empathy.
somalia`s pride based morality leads to entire cities and regions to be raided, claimed and its inhabitants subjected to morality that stems from camel raiding, so discrimination of bantus is a reflection of a society that has strange morality.
don`t be fooled people, islam is not the basis for somali morality we just switch to islamic principles when our nomadic and ignorant based morality does not suit our way(indocadde syndrome).
somali bantus are lucky to exscape from somalia. i wish them bash-bash iyo barwaaqo.

In that context I agree Wallahikhalid ali wrote:Somalidu wa dad aad u xun xun walahiLife has been a struggle, adds Fatouma, his neighbour and a grandmother of three, but "today, we are citizens of Tanzania. My granddaughters could even become president one day. In Somalia, for a Bantu, that would not be possible."

Off topic: Somalis look down on stealing but do boast about raiding which usually involves violence or the threat of violence. This makes me think Somalis glorify violence and not the act of taking property that does not belong to you. I remember listening to Dahir Aweis not long ago and how he made a claim that in Somalia, the more people you kill the more the somalis respect you and shower you with endless praises.Eaglehawk wrote: a example would be the socially excepted norm of raiding camels and boasting about it, just imagen a thief stealing a handbag and bragging about it, now can a civilized and moral muslim justify or take pride in such a behaviour or even find it exceptable.
Re: Somali Bantus Gain Tanzanian Citizenship
Shonuff, Totally right. Somalis do not condone theft, in fact they condemn such acts. what they glorify and boast about is raiding and capturing of property through acts of violence in order to settle the score and/or to send a massage to the other foes.Shonuff wrote:Off topic: Somalis look down on stealing but do boast about raiding which usually involves violence or the threat of violence.
