He played 15 minutes on sunday against liverpool, came on for Ireland around the 75th min mark. True he also played a full fa cup game against scunthorpe and was on the bench against man utd.

Well in that case, great news

I only knew about the Scunthorpe game. Do u think Mancini will give him much time in real action in the Premier League?

Very tough, depends on many things. Mancini and Man city are renowed for giving youth a chance, many of man cities current players have come through their youth system, which puts ibrahim in high stead, also he is regarded highly by the academy director. But if this was man city of old, when they were broke, then ibrahim would stand more chance. Now there in the market for all the best players, with that arab money, which will def affect ibrahim playing chances. He really has to impress in the few times he does play. The least we can expect from him, is that he will play in a lower league team or maybe a weaker prem team.

I'll be damned, I didn't know which Somali reer the youngester hailed from until Gurceel remark was made. Anyway his success is a Somali success and we should be happy for him.

This is the first positive story from Somalia in 2010 and it may well be the last good news for the entire year so let's enjoy it.

Yeah that is so true about cultural circumstances as I am 14 talented and my parents refuse to allow me to sign for a club I think this is where Somalis are lacking behind by not allowing their sons to utilise their talent for no reason whatsoever so I am quite sad about that , having to know that I might as well not try like I used to as my parents will always stand in my way :'(

No surprise there if Abdisalam is reer Guriceel. If you see a famous Somali who is not a hoe (model) or an atheist, there is a good chance he/she is Hawiye.

If you are talented you should also be a rebel. Your parents will come along when they see you succeed. Find uncle or older cousin who can sign the papers for you. When there is a will there is a way. Be rebel and remember even if you don't make the big boys you have no regrets becuase you tried. it is much worse to regret later.

One thing that always worked for me is being a rebel since I was nine. Being a rebel makes you grow as person. Most people who succeed in life entrepreneur, generals, leaders, all have a background in saying "you can have it, and keep having it" to borrow from Diego Maradona.
