Erm what about his manners..a little thing called integrity? What about his Deen? Pride is sinful!
What if he just likes the woman of your qabil and doesn't respect the men

still a funny scenerio

You forget that women have fathers, brothers, uncles and cousins who are of that qabiil. Like MsErudite pointed out, not respecting the men = not respecting her father.

Surrender,

I don't doubt Rer Mudug women are very tough and perhaps even the ones who wear the pants in the house.

If any guy thinks he can bully or domesticate her, he is in for a rude awakening.

Yet I never understood why anyone would say anything bad about their spouse's qabiil so blatantly ?

BlackVelvet,

You are obliged to respect your in laws but not necessarily the qabiil.

So say if my wife is MJ, and I deeply abhor Abdullahi Yusuf, she shouldn't get offended if I insult him as long as I don't say anything about the Mjs in general and I wouldn't get upset if she said anything negative about Qeybdiid.

Care to explain that comment Ms.surrender,
If he divorces your sorry ass,you the one to lose.your life will never be the same.

No sane man would go into that extreme. Not all men are qabiilists ma garatay, may be if she was marrying non-somali,that would have been another story.
come on dude that's kinda sexist so no one will marry her cause shes garoob
No,I am not a sexist,It just means once a girl is divorced she loses her original value.you know there is a difference b.w new cars and used ones.lol

BV have you seen traditional somali culture? Brother-in-laws do not ever visit their sisters once they are married, neither do the fathers, once she is married she is out of their hands and lives unfortunately, now imagine if he is a different qabil  . It might be a little different here in the west.

I'm not defending this practice but I would say that generally somali's feel that if you marry someone from your tol he will treat you better, he won't divorce you easily because you guys are at the very least still cousins, capiche. But a man will never hold himself to this belief with his wife, hypocrite yes but everyone thinks they're better than someone else.

What a bunch of liars...no-one is leaving anyone...just tell the truth, you would make him suffer for a while, but leaving him on the spot is unrealistic and a fairytale land scenario. There is no way Im wasting the money and effort I spent on wedding parties, new house etc just because he acted like an imbecile for a minute. And to be fair, all of you women more often than not see your qabiil as better than his, you were just clever enough not to make such out bursts.

Lool,walee war baad keentay!

It seems the other way round,by time she throws your papers at you,he will be moving to the next xaliimo waiting.Remember, guys dont dwell too much on past unhappy experiences,he just moves on life and probably get another chick who pampers him with love and respect, something you couldnt afford hadaadba waalidkiis wax ka sheegtay.
