It is a matter of semantics. The fact is great destruction is being caused in the name of Islam. The people who are causing these destruction cite the Quran.

Allah defined Islam in the Quran and Sunnah. I don't let others or the media define what is Islamic. Its very offensive to use such terms.

Don't be fooled by the random burnings of the Cross. The KKK is and was always a White Supremacist Organization. It is NOT a Christian organization but a racist one that holds to the bible for justification. When the KKK members sit down in their ranches to burn down the Crosses, do you think they hold hands to read the bible? NO. They cite their own literature for inspiration and guidance.

Saxib, with all due respect, with you it is a different story. You believe in Al Shabab, or in the very least, you sympathize with them. So your objections are kinda dishonest since your motivations of objections are different.

Seriously, who cares about what the "Western Media" chooses for "us." Islam is being used as a weapon of war and unless people are going to claim that Al Qaida and its proxies aren't Muslims, the term is very relevant and so is its usage.
Why are these terms in parenthesis? The West have a media...owned by a very small group of Western people...when I say 'us' I mean myself and other Muslims :|

No, it is not a relevant term because it is not used fairly. When South Africans were being murdered in the name of the Bible in Apartheid times it was not called a 'Christian' terror campaign, the same in Zimbabwe...when the KKK murder black people in the name of the Bible it is not a Christian campaign....when the West colonised the world and justified it through Christianity...its not remembered as a Christian campaign....funny how religion usually becomes important when its not the West committing these acts using the name of religion to justify it. Again, please come up with a less offensive term.

Why do you say the KKK isn't a christian orientated group while they use the bible as an inspiration and use the term 'islamic terrorism' while the islam condemns it? Basically why do you undervalue the importance of religion on the case of KKK and not on the case of the muslims?

Your understanding of history is very flawed.

The Apartheid System was NOT a Christian but a Political System
KKK is NOT a Christian Movement BUT a Racist Movement
European Colonization was/is NOT a Religious project BUT an Economical/political project.

Al Qaida and its proxies have only one ideological foundation and that is Islam, and this is true whether we like it or not. Unless, people are going to claim that these anarchists are not Muslims, the description will remain. I feel that it is an appropriate and correct term. These nihilists have an entire block of the Muslim theological section supporting them.

I wouldn't make such doubtful assertions if I was you. I haven't mention Al-Shabab in this topic, they are irrelevant. We are talking about what you call "Islamic Terrorist", you should refrain from using the same insulting rhetoric as the Islamophobic politicians.

It is a wrong comparison. KKK's ideological foundations aren't centered on Christianity. Their main targets are fellow Christians. A fair comparison would be the Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda or the anti-abortion groups in the United States.

Twisted, she is the reason why they changed that edict about automatic profiling of 10 nations after that Nigerian. Now it is about whatever profile is picked up. For example if a 20-25, year old blue eyed woman's profile is picked up from chatter, everyone who fits that profile will get automatic profiling in airports.

Twisted,
You say that I have a flawed understanding of history...my understanding is 100% tamaam..it is you who has failed to understand that there is no 'religious terrorism'...only political movements using religion to justify their agenda. This is why I never debate here, too many kids.

Al Shabab is relevant to this discussion because it is an Al Qaida proxy and if you have paid attention to the news item I attached to this thread, you would realize that that it was about the recruitment and financing of terrorists to murder cartoonists. A Somali individual affliated with Al Shabab made an unsuccessful attempt to murder a Danish Cartoonist just very recently. We also know that dozens of Somali youth have left the diaspora to join terrorist groups in Somalia. I think their financing, recruitment and networks are important. This story of "Jihad Jane" sheds an important light into the workings of these nihilist groups. Hence, Al Shabab is very relevant to the discussion.

I could honestly care less even if Hitler came down and labeled Al Qaida Islamic Terrorists (which they are). Some of us are mature enough not to be emotional about these kinds of issues. Just because person X is saying that Person Y is wrong doesn't make Person Y any less criminal.

That's your problem, honestly. Al Qaida is a religious organization, its ideology is centered on religion and its ends are the fulfillment of the Quran according to their interpretations.

At the end of the day, this is the reality of it. Whether, this descriptions make one uncomfortable is really irrelevant and besides the point.

Al-qaida targetted fellow muslims, dar-essalaam, Riyaad. Al-shabaab targets fellow muslims/somalis. So again why do you undervalue the religious aspect of the christian KKK and don't use the term 'christian terrorism'?

I welcome this change of law. Before, Abu Mansur Al-Amriki could walk in and out of airports without raising any eye-brows. Terrorism has no ethnicity. While, decent people like Prof Samatar and his wife could be held up for hours.
