No-one is apologizing or defending the USC. My main argument is that the ones that worship the late dictator shouldn't lecture anyone about human rights and protecting the innocents. The USC committed alot of heinous crimes and the people responsible should be prosecuted. BUT they were a reaction and a product of the MSB regime.abdalla11 wrote:Only on Snet you find people pleading on behalf of USC. RIP alone is not enough. The death of these brave Somalis marked the beginning of the Somali Civil War and MSB is directly responsible for giving the orders.qoraxeey wrote:Twisted_Logic wrote: What do you think about the murder of 100,000+ people by the Barre regime?

Those are lies by the ethiopian backed rebel groups to vie in their respective clan's support, barely any innocent people were killed under Hon. Maxamad Siyaad Barreqoraxeey wrote:Twisted_Logic wrote: What do you think about the murder of 100,000+ people by the Barre regime?

To insinuate that they are les evil than the MSB government is also a defence towards USC. There's no excuse for what they did how bad MSB may be, there's no excuseTwisted_Logic wrote:No-one is apologizing or defending the USC. Siyad Barre could have saved Somalia at the juncture in Somali history by listening to these elders. Read the Manifesto and you would notice that all Somali clans were suffering under this merciless on slaughter; Isaaq, Ogaadeen, Sacad and so forth. It was during that time that Afweyne forces leveled down all the major infrastructures in J/Hoose and poisoned wells in J/Hoose and J/Dhexe. Innocent Sacad civilians were slaughtered in Mudug and the entire Togdheer/W-Galbeed regions were on fire. Yes Afweyne was responsible for Somalia’s downfall, but then what happened next?
I can tell you at least three elders or intellectuals who are that list whom the USC Hutus slaughtered in broad daylight just because of their clan. RIP Professor Ebyan was one of them. Fockers. If they only gave us hints on their motives people like professor Ebyan would have left the city for saver place. Everyone thought this was a regime change that was the result of three movements; USC, SPM, and SNM. Yes I agree with Paidmonk that Siyad Barre was a saint compared to how Hutus buried an entire nation. And remember that it was always weak clans like the Afar-Qooble, Abgaal, Dudububle and Xawaadle who were killing the civilians. HG was doing the real fighting for them.

Cinque Mtume,
I didn't mean to leave out MJ but one of the very few things Afweyne did right was signing peace deal with Majeerteen and giving former SSDF officers CAFIS.You may be too young to understand this but when OGs left the goverment Siyad Barre tried very hard to bring MJ in. That is why all the major posts in the arm were given to MJs officerss after the departure of the OGs. In late 1980s near the collapse of the goverment, ironically MJs were aligned with the MR. Ask your elders....They might even saved MSB.
