I agree, to some degree we do care of what others think of us, but it varies from one person to another. Reading your statement, i couldnt but help thinking odeeeysha xaafaada have a very strong hold on u. Especially here in the west. (in africa, thats another story)
If i had a love daughter or a qanis son-- i would think to fear Allaah and not kill them than what a bunch of uneducated, useless odeeeyaal think of me. But obviously we think different. Our imaan varies in degree, to each with his/her own religion.

horta why do people blame everything on parents? Where is that attitude coming from just because you have done some mistakes in your life which you feel guilty about doesn’t mean you blame the parents. Was prophet Luudh's fault that some people in his imitate family including his own son chosen to act the way they did? Was it? Just because you do something wrong and you realise it was huge mistake doesn’t mean you blame the parents. This blame the parents’ notion is tiring. Back to topic, no I wouldnt kill my own son and daughter, Islam doesn’t allow you to take the law into your own hands. If the child does something to bring shame to the family doesn’t mean you can stab them, just disown them that is less harmful. This honour killing business has no place in Islam, Homosexuality, and adultery are not allowed in Islam, so if the person commits these sins/crimes, there has to be stable Sharia law to bring them to justice, we cant go around killing people because they brought ‘shame’ to our well know well respected family name. That’s not how Islam works.

I'm not having a daughter, if I do I'll bury her alive in the sand .
