i think the Somali case is especial one. because of the civil war.

When some guys divorce their wife, they divorce their kids too. And they expect their kids to take care of them while they aren't there for their kids when they do big things like graduate and making some cash.

Loads of gaalo divorce everyday, so lets quit acting like it's a Somali thing. Loads of sources say up to 50% of Western marriages [cadaan gaalo marriages] end up in divorce.

And I won't put up with cheating, abuse or any of that crap. Regardless if there are children involved. Loads of kids grow up with their parents divorced, and they turn out fine. I have an Adeer of mine who was married to his wife for 50 years. They both came to America and after less than 1 year, the wife divorced him. Folks wondered why she did it but she said that she had enough abuse to last a lifetime and she wanted to live out the remaining days of her life in happiness. Her husband (AUN) passed away a couple of months after that.

I think the kids are better off with their mother, most of the time. I think it's cruel to separate a child from his/her mother, unless she leaves them voluntarily and in that case she didn't deserve them in the first place.

Being proud has nothing to do with it. I've seen/heard about tons and tons of Somalis divorcing over the smallest things.. like she can't cook or he plays on his PS2/3 all the time *so they say*.. But cheating and drinking is by no means a SMALL thing. I could put up with some of his behaviours *which he had before i was his wife* or he just developed it because i aint perfect myself..
But, if he started drinking or even cheated on me.. I'm out, No amount of 'sorry, it wont happen again'..ama 'its a one-off thing' would stop me...

strange indeed! i hate some of our men for that. not only do they divorce the wife, they divorce the whole family, inc. the children. someone needs to teach our men that even though they divorce the wife, they can still be part of the children's lives.

you think thats a good idea? kids are better of with their mothers, you can still be part of their lives, obviously some of us havent learned the art of this. but i wouldnt advice you to take the kids away from their mothers.

wonders what democracy and freedom does for us. but seriously i have issues with Divorce! i hate it with passion. but i guess each case is different, and we dont know what that poor woman has to pit up with in the last 50 years.

There were no divorces only 2-3 generations ago purely because those women that wanted divorce had to convince not only their husband but also their entire family and community. The stigma of being divorced was one that no woman could recover from as communities were isolated and she would never have a second chance. In the west a woman can survive without her husband as she has welfare or even work. She has options in terms of social circles and can totally avoid her extended family.

The only reason that women in the past tolerated and appeared to have more IMAN was due to their dependancy on the income of their husbands.

Reality dawns on her when the kids reach teenage, then it is a path of sleepless nights and high-blood pressure followed by internal organ failures, obesity, chronic insomnia. When her kids tel to F.Off she then realises there was a need for a father figure.

Where my kids are all Sons i would divorce her when she looses her IMAN and gets abusive.

If i had even one daughter, i couldnt fogive myself for how she turns out... So i would do what ever it takes and remain a save till she is married then i would fly off to somalia and get me a new wife younger then my daughter to catchup on lost joy
