I dont know what your watching but clearly I can tell he has an accent. His arabic is mediocre.
He does have an accent, but thats not how You decide someone's competency in a language. In a extreme example, to me, Meles Zenawi speaks better English than George Bush. Shareef's Arabic vocabulary, grammer (Naxwa) is very impressive.

Your making individual comparisons still incomparable Shariff is an utter embarrassment and his handle of the Arabic language speaks for itself. Its a an attempt.

The fish head's irony here is that all of Somalia's Arab population lives in the south while there is zero Arab cultural presence up north aside from some enclaves on the Bari coastline.

saaxibyaal soon we will see Somali leader(s) addressing in Hindi/Urdu or even Cantonese. This is because of the diaspora who may return home and become the country's leaders. why are we criticizing those who address the people in Arabic when we are chatting and communicating with each other gaalo language?

a language is a mere communication tool used to get your thoughts and feelings across. NOTHING ELSE.

:som: Yeah, this seems a hot topic lo   Any way I am annoyed by our Somali leaders when they give their speech in a foreign language and are embarrassed by pauses on their speeches. If they would See and read this debate, it would help them a lot.

The best way to keep Somali language/culture is not to give away to the bloody Arabs :D and the Crazy English too... Be proud of being Somali, be proud of your culture and remember you are a Somali leader, there is nothing of being ashamed by giving a speech in Somali language.

How many leaders do give their speech/interviews in their mother tongue?
good example are:- The Chinese Leader, the Japanese Leader, the Cuban Leader, the Venezuelan leader and many, many more leaders.

Viva Somali Language    :som:

His arabic is mediocre, you can tell he isnt Arab than again he's a Somali who wishes he was. Its unnatural for Southern Somalis to speak Arabic.
Do you speak Arabic? And your statement of Southern Somalis not knowing Arabic is ludicrous based on the fact they are from the South, what if they lived in Arabic countries and shid? Quit being a dumbass.

If only he was a real President instead of a paper puppet.... but yeah its good for Somali leaders to know Arabic
it's good for all muslims to know arabic

If we spoke Arabic we would have some pride and maybe a country today. Compare Arab-speaking states to ours and you'll see the wonders that the language could've done for us. :geek:

I've always said we should've become Arab, our ancestors were too primitive to understand the benefits. Arabs badly want to incorporate Somalia into the Arab speaking realm and its embarrassing that tooth pick leg darkies don't wanna f-king learn the language and be part of this lucrative club.

For this reason alone I'd like Somalia to be balkanized and for individual clans to make their Arab claims and make money and connections with the Arabs, I know my opportunist people would be laughing all the way to Cairo's central bank.
