I would have probably spent the same amount in jail if I didn't back down. 3 nights in jail? Man that is extreme.
sxb those people are extreme in their nature. dont be fooled behind the glitter, the mensions, the villas, the skyscrappers, the massive highways and the glass malls of the UAE because what lies beneath all that is barbaric ignorant civilastion that abides by the moral codes of the caveman. there is no rule of law, no moral codes, no humanity, no religion. even their form racism is is retarded even by the low standards of a racist. a racist a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others but not arabs thet actually belief that whites are superior to them and in turn they are superior to the rest. this is the kind of mentality that i experienced in dubia airport. the reason why i was locked up for three nights was becuase those arabs at the airport allowed all the white people who had the same passport as me through and took me to a side and accused my me of stealing my own passport just becuase i was somali. a argument started and they started to speak to me in racially demeaning manner and in return i told them exactly what i thought of arabs and the UAE. one fat bastard spat at me, i punched him, and they put me in jail for nights.
damn! thats the worst possible thing that can happen man. how comes you spent three whole nights in jail. did they not give you access to a lawyer and did you not call the embassy?

''i told them exactly what i thought of arabs and the UAE'' - did you tell them what you wrote at the top of your post. lol.

They don't teach about equality, in fact they teach the exact opposite. So from a very young age, these kids grow up believing they are superior, they have more wealth, they are ''local'', they are also above the law or can disregard it and if caught can talk their way out of it.Even many of their services can only be accessed by locals only, like special needs schools, competitions , medical services etc etc.

I amazed almost everyday by somalis. It's like we have no eyes to see and no intellect to think. What is this obsession with carabta? If they treat you badly ama iska celi ama get the fock out of his country, simple. You destroyed your country, instead of taking responsibilty for it and rebuilding it you fled to other countries. And then you bitch about not being treated with respect? What have somalis done to earn it? If they treat you badly it's because you don't belong there.

even if your born outside of Somalia you have a western passport. they should respect that!
Last time I was on transit there this SOmali family got caught with trying to bring a kid from Hargeysa to europe with someones elses passport. The truth is Somalis were given alot of privileges in some Arab countries which were not given to some other immigrant. But they have become famed for fraud in certain places . That is not deny that some Arab can be pricks though.

I was in saudi for the last month, the condition of somalis in Jeddah is embrassing. Seeing them should be enough motivation for us to fix our country.

Walahi i have had a lot of bad experiences in saudi and dubai, but to paint all arabs as racist is just ignorant.

at the end of the day what matters most is your passport. if its western they should treat you like all western passport holders regardless of colour and background.

What were the conditions of the the Somalis in Jeddah? When I was in Cairo last summer, I was en route to Sacuudiga and the plane landed in Jeddah...I had enough time to visit my aunt and hit up the shopping mall, lakiin I wasn't there too long and didn't see many Somalis. My treatment by the Saudis was caadi...they weren't exactly friendly or anything but they weren't rude either.

I remember cousin from America had gotten into a fight. This Arab behind a desk at the Saudi airport said something like '' How can this Abd(slave get an American passport''. My cousin immediately bend over the counter and slapped him and other officers came before a fight could break out and told my cousin to keep it moving. Sometimes these Arab sissies officers need to be intimidated.

I think it is a matter of who you are and whether you fit the bill for the passport you carry. If you are American bred Somali and have American mannerisms, I would assume you get treated differently than if you are a fresh maryooley who has just past the time length for citizenship. I have traveled through many airports and the most courteous towards me have been Arab and European airports (Netherlands is my top airport in terms of how I am consistently treated by customs and even Egypt was not bad). For my above assumption, I remember once flying out of Nairobi and I was treated as expediently nd courteously as any Westerner while two Somalis with British passports but with African accents and mannerisms were treated harshly. I also remember flying out of Dubai and seeing a Somali with a Canadian passport but with African accent and mannerism being given a hard time while I passed through. I have also flown out of heathrow on one occasion without any hassle only to look back and see a fellow Somali American from Minneapolis being given a hard time because he seemed like the typical Somali. I flew out of Edmonton, Canada just recently a Somali with me on the plane was given a hard time as well while I didn't even so much get more than a few one liner exchanges with customs. I would say it is not only Somalis, I have flown out of Cape Town once without any second looks while Nigerian and Ghanians with Western passports were treated as if they had to be vetted entirely. The one airport where I was ever treated as I would assume some of the Somalis in this topic were treated was in Minneapolis and that's because I had flown in from international during a time when the Somali kids stuff was going on. I was taken out of the line up, put in a room to wait for 20 minutes and had to answer very private and confidential details about my life that they had answers to. Still, they let me go after 5 minutes and I was able to board my transit plane at the last second.

p.s. The only other airport I had ever gotten a hassle was Vancouver, BC and that's because I had flown in internationally on the same day as the would be Nigerian Christmas bomber. Let's just say that was not the best experience of my life.

I agree with Voltage, it depends on how you carry yourself.

I am a frequent Flyer, and i have never experiened what you guys describe.
The closest i have been to interrogation was when i booked a flight 1 hour before take off becuase i was on a waiting list as the flight ws full.
amazingly the person who vacated my seat and canceled his flight shared the same first and second and third name but was not somali at all and had a different password..

Racism/Racial profiling at airports doesnt make exceptions for mannerism. Yes, I would agree that it would depend mostly on a person conduct but if you speak with the Queens English, this doesnt make you immuned from encountering problems.
