Dr Abdishakur Abdulle, Somali Research Scientist who received his Phd from University of Central Lancashire, Preston, UK. He´s currently working as Senior clinical chemist at the United Arab Emirates University

Muhammed Abdi Jama

Dr Jama graduated in medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the Somali National University in Mogadishu, Somalia, his home country. He obtained his postgraduate training in paediatrics from the same university and later pursued further training in public health in Italy and in the United States. He has served the Government of Somalia in various positions, including as programme manager for child health, lecturer in paediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine of the Somali National University, and Deputy Director and head of paediatrics department of Banadir Hospital, which served as a teaching hospital for the Faculty of Medicine.

He currently works for WHO

Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim is a General Surgeon practicing in Minneapolis at the hospitals Abbott North Western and Mercy Hospital. His surgical interests include Laparoscopic surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and colon cancer surgery.

He graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He did his Specialty training at Hennepin County Medical Center (a Level One Trauma Center affiliated with the University of Minnesota) in Minneapolis.

Dr A. Abdulrahman

Three year College Diploma in Respiratory Therapy at Algonquin College, Ottawa, Canada

Registered Respiratory therapist: clinical practice for 3 years and Instructor of respiratory therapy science at Algonquin College, Ottawa Canada.

Combined undergraduate medical education at Somali National University and University of Toronto (clership).

And now a resident in Anesthesiology at University of Toronto placed at The Mount Sinai Hospital.

Awards: Silver Medal for ranking the second highest on a National Certification Exam in Canada :up: :up:

Mr Tahlil A. Warsame is an Allied Health Science Practitioner working in the field of cardiovascular ultrasound.

He received his Associate of Science in Cardiovascular Technology majoring Cardiac Ultrasound from Grossmont College in San Diego, California in 2002.

After Graduation he joined the world famous Mayo Clinic Cardiovascular Ultrasound Imaging and Hemodynamic Laboratory (Echo Lab).

Dr. Nasra Ahmed is Board Certified doctor who completed her residency program in Family Practice and General Medicine at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Currently Dr. Nasra Ahmed is full-time family physician at Family Practice HealthPartners Group
in Brooklyn Park, MN

Dr. Jama is a licensed General Dentist in the State of Minnesota. She received her Bachelors of Science from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. Her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut. Her General Practice Residency training at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Currently Dr. Jama is working with HealthPartners of Group Health Minnesota in operating a unique clinic designed to serve patients who often rely on episodic or emergency services compared to the traditional model which emphasizes preventative care. The clinic offers same-day access and supports in terms of interpreter services, transportation and social services.

Dr. Jama is also involved in a nationwide volunteer project in response to the shortage of Dentists and increase in dental emergencies in post hurricane Katrina devistation in New Orleans, LA.
Dr. Jama's other areas of expertise include the Oral Manifestations of khat, a psychotropic substance used in some African and Middle Eastern communities.

Dr Abdirashid Mohamed Shire has an extraordinary Academic Curriculum Vitae.
In 1988 he earned his B.Sc.degree in Biology at the Lafole College of Education in Somalia. Further he pursued and obtained his Master Degree in Medical Parasitology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, UK. 1995.

In 2003 he earned a Ph.D merit in Molecular Biology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. University of London, UK. His Ph.D thesis was titled "New Genomic Repetetive Sequences of Entamoeba Dispar"

Dr Shire worked then as a Visiting Research Fellow until he decided to pursue a post doctoral research at the University of Iowa, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, in Iowa City. During his 14 month fellowship, his field of research encompassed study of genes linked to Stargardt Disease (Macular Degeneration).

Since April 2005, Dr Shire works as a research fellow at Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. His field of research involves the study of genes linked to primary liver carcinoma.

Dr. Khadra Kahin is a chiropractor who graduated from Life University College of Chiropractic. She received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in June, 2006. She also completed a two-year residency at the Life University Outpatient Clinic. She is the first and only Somali female chiropractor.

She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. While at McMaster she majored in both Biology and Philosophy and graduated with honors.

Currently she is a licensed chiropractor in Atlanta, Georgia. She is also a National Board of Examiners certified doctor, and a member of the World Chiropractic Alliance.

Dr. Hassan has trained at the Somali National University and the University of Rome “La Sapienza” where he finished a Gastroenterology Fellowship. In addition, he completed a residency program in Internal Medicine and a Gastroenterology Fellowship at Howard University Hospital in Washington DC. He also completed an advanced fellowship in Hepatology and Liver Transplant Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Hassan became a faculty member as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine-Gastroenterology Division at the University of Minnesota in 2004. His responsibilities include: Endoscopic Services, in-patient consults, and out-patient clinics.

Masha Allaah :up: We have more Somali Scientists than these short list and people you folks listed are not in the same league...Some have just 3 years training while others are like Fatah :up: But still :rose:

Sister Kambuli, you have your doctorate (phd) in Chemistry or biology, is that correct? :D 3 years of training with a lot of experince is all 8-) :lol: :lol: One step nin the right direction :D

Btw, It is brother Abdalla's topic and he has made this effort to collect the names of these great Somalis. :up: :up:

Bro Abdalle, we need sister Kambuli listed there since I presume she has doctorate in Chemistry/biology. Unfortunately, I don't know her real name :lol: :lol:
