Re: Arabs slaved somalis ?
My blood boils if i think about that we were colonized from 1925/1927 to 1960, let alone being enslaved. The story is fake

Some Oromos enslaved Marehan people in Southwestern Somalia.

Re: Arabs slaved somalis ?
Arabs enslaved Arabs, never mind Somalis. This is a pointless studenty topic that is heading nowhere FAST.
(Slavery was abolished in Saudi Arabia in the 1960s).

Do you really have to bring clans into this type of thread?
Warning: Qabyalaad is a destructable disease so forget about it eh.
Re: Arabs slaved somalis ?
Fierce Borena Oromo warriors used to raid Marehan villages and took the women as slaves, I read this somewhere. So some Somalis were indeed slaves (property of others) at one point in history.

You are so stupid. You come on here with a newly minted username to accuse Somalis of being slaves to OROMOS, the same ones living in our regions today asking for bread and water. Get out of here with your nonsense!

The British and Italians couldn't tame Somalis, you expect Oromo's to have who didn't even have power or might in any historical period?

Keep dreaming that dream.
Re: Arabs slaved somalis ?
The Borana sharpen their teeth and used to hunt lions as a pastime, they are warrior like, nothing like the sedentary Oromo of the midlands. One Borana man could take on an entire Somali village.

Why are you abused by the minority in Ethiopia then, if you are so mighty and your teeth are so tough. Go bite for power.

Context is everything here. Err, in what context could one Borana man take on an entire Somali village?Mckuus wrote:The Borana sharpen their teeth and used to hunt lions as a pastime, they are warrior like, nothing like the sedentary Oromo of the midlands. Yes, there was some innuendo slipped in there (oops there I go again).

Re: Arabs slaved somalis ?
Personally i have never heard of borana sharpening their teeth, that practice i believe is exclusively performed by the northern Issa and Afar. Even their fellow krazy neighbors the Karayuu Oromos who they often fight with both the afar and issa as well as occasional skirmish with argoba and their own fellow oromo groups such as ittu and arsi dont perform this ritual but do scar their faces horizontally.Mckuus wrote:The Borana sharpen their teeth and used to hunt lions as a pastime, they are warrior like, nothing like the sedentary Oromo of the midlands. As for borona being more war-like than other Oromos, in a way you are correct but history has proved that the sons of bareentumaa as being the most war-like Oromo.
By the way are you Borana?

handicap as a somali you might see marehan as a far distant clan but other people dont see marehan as a clan but as a somali which includes you.Mckuus wrote:Some Oromos enslaved Marehan people in Southwestern Somalia.

Afraan Qalloo yes, we are brave warriors, but the rest i don't know.
Arsis are not the son of barentuma rather the son of sidama, Walloo sons of argoba, amara, agaw, and all those highlanders.
The two most warrior type clans from the Oromos are the Borans and Karrayyuu.

Re: Arabs slaved somalis ?
Why would anybody buy a male soamli slave: undisciplined he cant be a good soldier; lazy and skinny he cant work hard!
Its a waste of money.
As for Somali females, they have certain charme.
I personnaly would buy one looking like ayan hirsi, free her and marry her if she wants
B.
Str8,
Wallo oromos were the terror of Gondari courts, and governed from dabra tabor for more than a century..Ras Ali and Ras Doorii are the famous.
As for Arsis they r the eldest son of Bareentumaa, whether we like it or not
