Many protectorates joined with another protectorate to create a nation state, yet they don't have the right to leave. Actually, you don't have the right to leave it is against the law and I quote the Somali Constitution:

1. The national territory is sacred and inviolable.

If you want to change the territorial integrity it must be approved by the Somali Republic:

3. Any modification of the national territory must be authorized by a
law approved by a four-fifth majority of the members of the National
Assembly.

So, no you have no right to create a phantom state.

You are comparing two totally different circumstances to the Somali Union. The Eritrean seperatists movement had a legitimate cause against the Ethiopian government because they were of a different ethnic group, had different values etc. They also were given permission to leave the union by the Ethiopian Federal Government. "Somaliland", is not but a defacto government who filled the pwoer vacuum for their area and claimed independence, just like I can claim independence that my house is seperate from the Canada. It has no legitimacy and no one will ever take me serious, just like Peter in Family Guy.
