 @ the title

You're right and I agree with you. Al-Shabaab are not welcome in Xamar or anywhere else in Somalia for that matter....right now, only people without conscience support them. Even if the TFG does not have much legitimacy or respect, they are now more popular than Al-Shabaab....Al-Shabaab are a bunch of crazy moroyaan who know nothing about the diin.

Shirib, power does not give legitimacy. And even if it did in a screwed up logic, Al-Shabaab does not have power and relies on the help of foreigners and guerrilla tactics.

The way i see it the answer to somalia lies in the path of least resistance!

- To remove shabab many somalis have to die and such is neither victory nor will anything that follows it yield a situation that benefits the civilians. Once accomplished there is a higher likelyhood a need to remove TFg will arise.

- To remove TFg only requires removal of Amisom troops that have killed in excess of 4,200 civilians. The result of this strategy shows better prospects of yielding circumstances more beneficial to the civilians. There is higher prospects of shabab maturing to a leadership more beneficial for the civilians and as a legitimate government created by them there is zero chance of them maintaining their global rhetoric and they have shown the ability to change when there have been public outcry over their excessive punishments.

I am sorry but TFg is currently not Lesser of 2 evils

Al Shabaab control from Hiiraan to kismaayo, and its not because of foreigners or guerilla tactics.

Shirib and abdisamad can you both tell me why al-shabab can control the country, wat about ahlu sunnah and xisbul islam? Are they allowed to control the country? P.s ahlu sunnah support the TFG and xisbul islam are willing to support TFG under a condition which is fufus to leave the country, the only obstacle against the TFG is al.shabab, why cant al-shabab do the same thing like xisbul islam and come to an agreement? Why are al.shabab stubborn? TFG will make fufus leave xamar until they come to the table, TFG cant accomplish xisbul islam agreement because if TFG makes fufus leave the country they have made peace with xisbul islam but al.shabab are going to continue the fight.

Al Shabaab and Xisbul Islam have the same view that they would be willing to negotiate with the TFG if AMISOM leaves.

But we both know AMISOM is going no where, TFG will remain useless, and more innocent lives will be lost in a senseless war.

My honest view right now is that the people of Somalia don't care who rules, they just want peace and security more than they want anything else. This peace cannot be accomplished until the AU leaves. Somalia's can't be solved by the international community, it has to be solved at the local level.

Yeah they do. People have seen foreigners fight for them and they work on intimidating the locals and coming out once in a while doing their hit and run tactics, they never stay in full control over anywhere. Majority of those who support them in Somalia are either scared of being assassinated or would prefer the status quo to the TFG. Either way no one in their right mind in Somalia would support the shabaab given the choice.

I don't think even you would support them if you had your objective hat on...

Shirib you are wrong. Al shabab have clearly said that they wont negotiate even if AMISOM leaves they said that they are going to kill every member of the TFG. P.S Xisbul Islam and Al-shabab have different ideology. What are u talking about Al Shabaab is in full control of all southern somalia, everything south of beledweyn, barring Xamar.

People in Xamar would prefer the fighting to stop make the winner be, Al Shabaab, TFG, or jinniga cirka

Last I remember they had the same stance as XI, I don't remember them changing it. TFG can't even agree on minuscule things suck as which way to vote. Do u really think they can tell AMISOM what to do? The real folks who run the TFG is the International Community. And it is not the TFG who doesn't want to negotiate with Al Shabaab but the International Community.

If the TFG made a timeline or even some sort of declaration that AMISOM would leave, and called for reconciliation that would be one thing. But day in and day out they call for more AU troops to be deployed. More AU troops won't solve the problem. 30,000 Ethiopians couldn't pacify Somalia and 50,000 UNISOM couldn't do it either.

Al Shabaabs defeat won't come through brute force, and I think that's the way most people want it. But that won't happen, if anything it will only radicalize them more and bring them more supporters.

Who created the Somali government in 1960? Alhamdulilah the only somali government that had no gaalo influence was the government of jaale siyaad (1969), he kept somalia to somalis and killed people that used to have the same ideology as al-shabaab.
