It's not an excuse to not be all that for the rest of the year. Valentine's is just an excuse to be extra lovely, like birthdays and anniversaries. It is commercialised but you don't have to spend any money if you don't want to.

Roses on bed sheets and floor bad idea, it leaves all kinds of stains on there and the clean up is terrible.
