Top-notch teaching quality, excellent resources, world class professors, better courses/exams. A person who, say, studies maths at Cambridge covers more material in the first/second year than people do four years at an average university. People who graduate from universities like Oxford and Cambridge tend to be ridiculously better trained than people who have attended normal/mediocre universities.

I don't think that's a good idea. She's already out of education for a year. That itself is frowned upon by Oxbridge, and might even had some hand in her rejection; so two years will probably prove disastrous. Applying to Oxford/Cambridge is an opportunity that one should take, if it presents itself, but dwelling on it is a bad idea (and this is from a Cambridge offer holder). If I were her, I'd probably go to UCL.

In the U.S most prestige comes from your graduate school, be it law or medicine. Unfortunately the UK seems to do a lot of specialization in undergraduate....she should wait for Cambridge imo. :|
