Geo-desic, can we agree that Al Shabaab is not the future and that the world is not going to allow a designated terrorist organization to govern a geographical space with impunity in 2011? We have to understand that there is a fat chance in hell Al Shabaab is going to be allowed uncontested to govern Somalia. AMISOM's entire existence is built on this fact. Somalia needs to be a stable, normal country that can trade and get investment from countries and organizations around the world. That will never happen ith a designated terrorist organization in power. It will instead be perpetual conflict.

If you can not provide an alternative that can deliver justice and security, Alshabaab will stay influential. If they are defeated, and their replacement is the TFG like characters, the pressure will give birth to another Alshabaab like group and the war for legitimacy will continue unabated.

TFG was the replacement of the Islamic Courts Union, imposed on somalis from Outside, and we know what has become of it. We need Somali solution to the Somali problem. You must have good decent somalis to compete with Alshabaab so people can support and shed their blood if they have to to reclaim their part of the country and move onto the future hopeful saxib.

you're right, but there won't be a Somali solution now when it's become an acceptable norm to adopt a foreign solution for far too long. Al Shabaab have had a good run but they sucked at public PR. Their efforts in the beginning are much appreciated but their end is a must. Now what happens with the TFG jokes I have no interest in, that's for it's people it represents to decide.

Definintely brother, Alshabaab can not be the future for the simple fact that Somalia will be held hostage for their policies. However, Alshabaab has what the TFG doesn't, and the TFG has what Alshabaab doesn't. The key is to find a middle-ground leadership that can garner international support and the support of Somalis collectively. How do we get such group of somalis at the helm? I have no idea, but I know what they ought to have as characteristics:

1- Lack of Clan Orientation.
2- Justice and Security for all.
3- Soldiers who are Islamic Oriented whom people can trust.


I don't see such organization with these qualities coming into the scene anytime soon. Recycling clan based malitia and selling them as somali troops failed time and again. We all know why they failed. Only Allah can help Somalia Saxib. it is beyond human intervention.

Abdisamed, Shabaab needs to be defeated for the war to end. Somalia is a sovereign nation in 2011. No country on earth or organization is going to accept, deal with, trade with, work with, etc with a designated terrorist organization. Somalia is not in a bubble apart from the world but part of it. Somalia needs to sit in international organizations, it needs to have relations with countries and organizations around the world, it needs to trade and get investment from around the world. Such a stable future will never become apparent with a designated terrorist organization in the mixture. Shabaab needs to be defeated for this phase of the Somali civil war to be ended and corruption must be cleaned out from the TFG for the final phase to be ended.

That is what I mean sxb the only solution you can see is war,,which means more displaced people and the vicious cycle will never take an end,,sxb dont think what is best for the outside world or what is acceptable to them but think whats best for your people/nation how can you end the war and suffering,,,al shabaab are as Somali as you and me, al shabab is not one man they are many people who are united on how to bring sharica or build an islamic state I believe if we Somalis came together with out any foreign interference I believe we can all reach somekind of an agreement, and build a goverment for the Somali people...

You should feel angry towards the bastards called the Government of Somalia who are looting and stealing from the poor. And why is this so called President of Somalia not talking about the famine, typical of him, to steal and take from the poor, May he die instead of those poor children and their parents.
