Saraxnow wrote:Its not about glorifying or making historic characters into heroes. It is about teaching Somali HISTORY. Just as people will learn about Siad Barre and the civil war events, they should learn about the Sultanates and the 'pre-modern' history of Somalis in the horn.

From the Darwishes to the SNM to the SSDF to the USC to the UIC to the TFG to the Al-shabab etc ALL of the events that took place on any Somali soil should be taught.

The former Siad Bare regime tried to teach people a distorted history and hiding sources especially from the made up books of Aw Cisse Cumar Jamac. Which is why Somalis will not trust other Somalis to try and brainwash their youth with fake distorted history from other tribes.

If you don't praise or know the Mad Mullah, doesn't mean you're not a Somali Nationalist (Wadani).

I'm Dhulbahante and a Wadani and I don't give a shit about the Mad Mullah. He can rot in Hell, for all I care. However, what he has composed in his poems about certain clans is very true indeed. The focker was a good analyzer.

Look at the irony. Isn't that what you're trying to do, mate?

Tell me anything you could be proud of, aside from SNM, whom were supported by Mengistu and used the SNM chairmans like his Mistresses.

That is what your grandfather Siad Bare tried to do until his followers were busted one by one by the original sources.

Dardaraan by the Great Sayid.

Nimanyahow damiinnimada waa lagu dulloobaaye,

Nin ragay dardaaran u tahaye doqon ha moogaado,

Dawo lagama helo gaal haddaad daawo dhigataane,

Waa idin dagaayaa kufriga aad u debcaysaane,

Dirhankuu idiin qubahayaad dib u go'aysaane,

Marka hore dabkuu idinka dhigi dumar sidiisiiye,

Marka xigana dabaqadda yuu idin dareensiine,

Marka xiga dalkuu idinku oran duunyo dhaafsada e',

Marka xiga dushuu idinka rari sida dameeraade,

Just because you have been transformed into a housewife, doesn't mean I will surely be in your footsteps. I'm a man and not a Homosexual like you, carrying a Homosexual club named 934.

Three hundred Mogadishu University-educated students attended a book event. They were shown two historical pictures; the potraits of:

(1) the indian leader, Mahatma Gandhi and (2) Maxamed Cabdulle Xassan (the sayid)

Ninety percent of the participants recongised Mahatma Ghandi and only 1 individual recognised the potrait of Maxamed Cabdulle Xassan.

What a sad state of affairs...
It just a reflection of us as a people. I doubt these pupils would have recognized Ahmed Gurey, Xaawo Taako or Dhagaxtuur either.

This is one of the casualties of the war i.e. social and cultural amnesia. Its a shock effect and has little to do with region or clans.

Warlords like sayidka, caydiid, cali mahdi, siyad barre, geedi, morgan, cusman cato, muse suudi and many more like them should never be remembered.

But we must never forget true Somali heroes/ mujaahidiin like Ahmed gurey and Cayrow.

Warsame are you surprised bro? This is a country that has lost all forms of infrastructure, institutional or otherwise. This is the man modern American magazines are writing thus about:

http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2 ... world.html

Yet our so called "university students" in Mogadishu don't know him. I think that says tremendous about their right to be in university.

From what I gather in this topic. He's considered a hero (by some) because he fought the colonial powers, however others do not consider him so because of what he did to his own people (by the way what did he do?) :|

P.s I've heard of him before.
