yes they can as it is mentioned in the qur'an. Am not gonna pretend that i fully understand the workings of jinns as this are realms beyond basic understanding, but as a muslim if you doubt our holy scripture and Allah's creation i don't know what i can say to convince you. The Qur'an is a better source to explain your questions but if you don't believe it then i guess, there is nothing more i can add to change your mind on the subject.
