aniga i didn't sxb, the african american type of preaching isn't my thing. Sheikh Anwar's way of preaching does it for me
Twist wrote:I attended one of his lectures in South Australia Uni hall back in 05, I think, and even bought 5 of his DVD's as he was speaking about raising money for that UK Islamic channel. Plus, I know the Somali lady he married in person. All I can say is may Allah guide us to the right path
he's been in Melbourne quite a lot sxb and at one point he had a huge following here but somehow the public got turned of after things about him came out but me personally i was never a big fan of him even early on

I meant sh Anwar, African American preachers don't do it for me either.

i know something is up with this sheikh but before i can accuse him of anything like this, i would like to see more concrete prove about his alleged fraud. i attended a few of his lectures and in each sermon he introduced a new initiative in which, according to him, he just start working on it and needed help to get it off the ground as he put it.

i hope this is a baseless accusation because if it is not, we are in deep trouble brothers!!!

but one thing i know for sure about him is that he doesn't and won't tolerate people or shops selling his DVDs and CD's without his prior approval. when he's in town, he would go to the maktabs or the Somali shops and would directly ask them if they sell his products and would also check the shelves himself.

that's was kinda odd to me to begin with. allah knows.

The fact that people would even listen to these kinds of men shows the level of ignorance when it comes to deen in our society.

If you really want to learn something about your religion, instead of listening to angry rants of ex-thugs with little to no knowledge, pick up a Mashaf and go to a sheikh in a masjid and start with the basics - Tajweed.

I 've seen too many somalis reading Sahih Al Bukhari translations and they can't even read the fatiha properly.

I would like to see some concrete evidence too before accusing him of anything. He dismissed these allegations when he was at my local mosque 2 years ago. For those who say he is ignorant, and rant about his past, let me just ask you one question, How many people have converted to islam as a result of your ducwo as compared to people who converted as a result of his efforts? I fail to see what wrong this "ignorant" man is doing.

Of course, he calls himself a religious leader that alone is sufficient to brand him a fraud. I'm eternally suspicious of anyone who draws authority from divine texts.

He calls himself a 'student of a student of knowledge', your comment is more like a fraud.

I dont know about the rumors but all i could say is that he was knowledgable in the deen, passionate and strong willed; i went to one of his Muxaadaro several years back here, all i can say that it was one of the best ive attended since then.

i love how you give Somalis evidence, and then they still ask for evidence. The evidence has been put forth, tens and tens of 'projects' the sheikh has began and fundraised extensively for, but never developed. He has never addressed these claims or provided a paper trail of the $$, I'm personally witholding judgement cuz the brother can sure deliver an imaan-rush if you listen to his lectures  but it would be really disappointing to know the allegations are all true.
