Swalahi is like 40% Arabic, i doubt Somali is more than 25% Arabic.
According to alot of elders Maymay is the real Af Somali and there's hardly any arabic loan words in that dialect

Means= Yaéni????
Somalis dont use this word.. The only ones who use this word are the ones from Arab countries..
I personally hate hearing the word used within a Somali sentence!
That's because no-one's done a proper academic analysis of the somali language.I swear, you'd be suprised how many words are of arabic origin e.g. Laxoox.

Not even us qurba joog but the people living in somali speaking areas are lacking in the somali language. Especially a lot of people coming from Djibouti are terrible when it comes to af somali. With reer djubuti there is two cases. This little girl who was like 6 who was speaking somali like a 40 year old women which was extremely funny and then there is those who mix somali french and arabic and alot of there convo is hard to keep up with.

You can't Judge a language when people speak it, you Must look at the academic institutions, there will be always 2 version to any language, the Academic Side and the Shisha version.

Eebbow geyiga oo dhan waa nalaga guulaaye
Waa noo gedleeyaan dadkii gaalada ahaaye
Eebbow Giriig kolay ku tahay nala gamuunneeye!
Go'na lagama qaadine dulmay nagu gelaayaane
Gabbaad kale hadday noo helaan waa gam'i lahayne
Eebbow waxay nagu gabreen diinta soo gala e!
Eebbow garka haddaan qabsaday gaaxshe nabaddiiye
Eebbow gammaan iyo waxaan gini-cas dhiibaayey
Eebbow garow kagama helin goolashadaan wadaye!
Ganbalaaligii bay warmaha nagu garraaxeene
Eebow waa gumaadeen raggii gaanaha ahaaye
Eebbow waxay gebawareen Gaaguf iyo Xayde!
Xirsigii garaaraha lahaa Gaarrufkii dile e
Geydhaale Aw-Aadan bay galawga taabteene
Eebow geesigii Ina-Dherey ugu guduudsheene
Guxushaaga Baynaxa ilmadu waa tan gabaxlayne
Gorroska Muuse-taaganaa wadnuhu ila gariiraaye
Eebbow ways gamaamaa markuu gaarka soo maro e
I found 2, not just one (plus, some more that I don't know).

my point is finding even 4 arabic words out of 117 words is not 70 or 90 percent. also words like jin and diin are used extensively in the religon of islam in general. I like the way sheikh mustafe xajji ismaaciil responded to a man who said I'm tired of the arabs and dont want to learn their language. He told him that arabic is important to learn the book of allah and then he also added arabic since the advent of the quran has been a international language. Arabic is no longer meant for only arabs but for all muslims. There are people in saudi arabia who were born speaking arabic but a white convert or revert living in texas his whole life knows better arabic then him. Mashallah
