bro hyper, you have a point there. Were all the four from the same era and why are they more popular than the rest? Thanks in advance.

Re: Which Madhab do you follow?
not exactly bro. wey kala horeyen. for example shafi'i was student of malik.
they had their teachers too but what made them special is they documented their research and wrote books and had many students that followed them then moved to other part of islamic world at that time. you dont have to follow them blindly. you can compare all the qools and reasoning and follow what you feel is right in your heart.
imam shafi'i said: hadi qoolkeyga wah ka sahsan aad aragto, you leave mine and follow the right one.

Re: Which Madhab do you follow?
Originally, there were more than four madhabs but most of them died out like the Zahiri school of jurisprudence. Actually, Imam Malik taught Imam ash-Shafi'i who in turn influenced Imam Ahmad. So there was no great rivalry as people make it out to be. They just interpreted the Qur'an and Sunnah of the prophet SAWS to the best of their abilities and differ only in small matters.

Plus we need the madhabs in order to resolve small differences, fro example Imaam shaafi says that touching your wife/women breaks wudu while others differ. So you have to pick one madhab in order to follow.

lol akhi, but some people they just pick and choose from their desires, for example they follow hanbali in one issue and abu hanifa in another, so they choose based on their hawa.hyperactive wrote:lol granpa. you dont have to pick a madhab to follow qool al arja7.

Re: Which Madhab do you follow?
one shouldnt pick and choose what is easy for them at that moment. that is like playing and fooling around. but in some cases better to go behind reasoning of the qool and follow the arja7.
ive seen people who do that just to get easiest they can. Allaho a3lam their intentions tho.

Pick an choose like a pick a mix..
Re: Which Madhab do you follow?
99% of the Muslim ummah follows a madhab whether they know it or not. For all those who say following a madhab is wrong your either following the madhab of your local sheik or the madhab of Sh Google.

You can't pick and mix. You either follow one or the other. Diintu maaha Haribos.
Re: Which Madhab do you follow?
All for madhabs are taken by their respected islamic scholars so they can explain the best they can when it comes to islam.
Normally The shafe'e and maliki Madhabs are what they call as " hadiths madhabs" focusing on hadiths to interepret islam as much as they can, The hanbali are more fiqh, doctrine and fundemental of islamic study, That is why their followers are more likely to issue fatwa if someone is out of the fold of islam based on their understandings e.g saudi and all the gulf countries and that is why you see the Kufr of all sects like nasiri, druze, baha'i are to some degree the shia doctrine been called to be out of fold of islam from Followers of imam hanbali madhabs ...Imam Hanafi is the richest source of islamic rulings and one that all three madhabs often use, because it has the element of Meqyas which is the balance Rulings where anything is taken into process of contradiction process of hadiths and koran and logic, One good example is Cigaretes which was makrooh for all madhabs till the hanafi scholars claimed it was haram because according to the sunna, hadith and koran it harmed your body and it was elevated from makrooh to haram, other 3 madhabs don't have the meqyas process and followed suit and also declared cigarette to be haram, so does the ruling on T.V, SOME SPORTS AND ANYTHING THAT'S NEW TO THE WORLD usually gets a ruling from hanfi scholars as best of their understanding before other madhabs adopting it, Since its all sunnat mohammed pbuh people can go far away to claim that one madhabs is better than the other but this is bid'ah or invention because all the 4 scholars followed sunnat mohammed pbuh not their own madhabs. People don't know the difference between the madhabs if they knew they wouldn't be bragging about it, in Theory the shafe'e and maliki madhabs are the most strictest but being Horners we always get the best out of the 4 madhabs and sugar coat it and follow, The hanafi madhab is the most evolving with time and 80% of islamic books are based from hanafi point of view rulings.
There is no way anyone in here follow the shafe'e madhab fully no one does in the whole horn and one good example is the wodoo (washing before prayers) as far i saw all horners use the hanafi way of doing woodoo.

Re: Which Madhab do you follow?
The thing is whether you follow one madhab or pick and choose your still depending on someone else's opinion. As long as your not knowledgeable enough to extract the evidence for yourself your a follower. As long as your not able to pick up the quran understand the meanings of the verses and is rulings your following someone's opinion. As long as your not knowledgeable enough to grade the hadiths yourself your following someone's madhab. As long as you don't have deep understanding of the Arabic language your following someone's opinion. The good thing though there is nothing wrong with following in Islam your actually supposed to follow those with knowledge, there is no shame in it.
Imam shafi was able to extract evidence from the quran and sunah at a young age without needing to read or depend on tafsir books. He could grade hadiths and actually had the opportunity to meet the men in the chain of hadiths. People like the four imam have been agreed upon by the whole ummah for their deep understanding of Islam and their taqwa.
Allah says:
So ask of those who know the Scripture if you know not. (Quran 16:43)
