Whatever facts, opinions anyone uses,if they repeat and stand behind their work, there will be audience for it.

yeah, they are always looking for info regarding female genital mutilation. they wanna know if this practice is still going on among somalis in the diaspora. ladies, just don't send them pics of your "thing" even though they are offering you big sums of cash. tell them we stopped that barbaric act many moons ago.

After watching the 1st hour of this conference, I'd say yes. In this video, everyone is announcing his/her name, locale and profession, yet they are no different than all the anonymous characters we have here. While personal identity is hidden, members leave a lot of info about them, their way of thinking, opinion on any given subject, lifestyle, etc etc.
This conference shows you how chaotic by nature we are. The host is trying to organize the meeting/focus on specifics and is begging them to remain on the subject. However, no1 is respecting that request and it is all about me, my tribe and my enemy tribe. Even the few who made good comments are not on the subject on hand. That's a clear reflection of what we have here on snet. Do you see the parallels?
imho, yes researchers can learn how the somali brain functions trough these forums.
A good researcher can create charts and graphs on somali psyche, popular opinions, political landscape, etc. on different years by just going through these forums.
If you think Somalis are different than you and other snet characters, I'd say think again. If one argues he/she is not like this in real life then chances are this is true him/her.
Watch it if you have the heart to digest it.
