A tuug is a tuug. The one who stole property during the time of the MSB government will have to return it and the one who stole after it will return it. Both are tug and none shall be left to enjoy what is not theirs.

HP, I am assuming the qabiils u mentioned left the city out of choice and appointed people to look after their belongings, they weren't chased out like some.

 bro u should get back that business and continue ur families legacy, start off with one store a city and move fast, in 20 years every block will have a chain.

Happy, say the land was proven to be "stolen" in kacankii times, who will inherit it? would it be a coin toss between "local" clans, the squatters or all rights will be given to the government.

Advo,

We introduced Caano Boodhe especially in Somali Galbeed. Couldn't keep stocking the shelves fast enough. Things got so bad, the local cows and camels started protesting against us.

Inshallah, peace will return and there will be more interest based alliances.

P.S. Any word on my friend from peacetimes Xoogsade14 ?

None of my families' properties were stolen and we didn't steal any. I am thinking about starting it now though.

Advo,

The best club/restaurant in Lido was owned by a distant uncle of mine. Best italian food and an assortment of all drinks from the infamous Jowhar's "Caashowaal" to Johnny Walker.

Dude, you missed out on a whole era of Somalia: clubs, fist fights with fat white tourists, robbing them near Jubba Hotel, NSS spies following all foreigners around etc. I remember Xoogsade's cousins. Man oh man, they were some crazy fockers. They got me out of several jams. 8-)

In other words it should be handed to one of ur random "uncles" miyaa? Come on just say it because I know ur itching for many property ur family used to eye back in the days. Walaal hadaad saas wax u rabtid, waaloo shaqeeystaa lama xado

btw that is a super weak argument, if the land grabber is gonna argue the previous tenant stole it, the original tuug can also claim that his land predates the kacaanka or that the supposed "uncle" stole it himself (never ending tuugo cycle). I know my families property (grandpas, aunts etc) goes back to the 1940's waay before Siyaad Barre came to power. As My aging habaryar likes to tell this story, when she came to muqdisho she couldn't afford to live in the city so she built a small house far away and used to walk to miles to the city to conduct her business, now that house (I doubt it still standing) is in the middle of the city. I will let you figure out my point of the story.

Abdiwahab, I seriously cannot imagine because I simply do not have that luxury.....I envy you and ur generation. I would be probably sweet talking a young honey right now by the beach with my hair neatly comb to the side, skinny frame feeding her grapes and sh!t

Advo,

Alas, it will never be the same. Then there were the damn rumors. There was this Italian singer who sang Somali songs and rumor was spread he had HIV and apparently the guy got around with the singers of that time

I had mucho respect for the party scene back in the day. It was all about repping your xafaad not qawiil

Yeah I heard alot of people lost land when it was ''nationalised''. Why should ''nationalised'' land suddenly become under the private ownership of members close to the former regime whatever clan they may be?

Of course this is not to defend looted property. Property rights are very important and must be respected if Xamar is to be taken seriously as a forward-moving city. Nevertheless, if the city was inhabited by certain locals before the military dictatorship...but somehow during this time the demographics of the city suddenly changed...something is not adding up and questions must be asked.

If someone can prove beyond doubt that they got that property legitimately then of course they should get it back.

Your question was so silly I didn't think it deserved a real answer. You are mixing the 2, there are lands that were taken forcefully from the public by the government, those lands should be returned to their rightful owners. There are also (honestly speaking I have never seen or heard or know of anyone who this happened to in real life) but I have heard on SNet that there are people whose houses have been taken away by militia or whoever, these houses should also be returned to their rightful owners.

I don't see which part you don't understand. It is pretty straightforward.

I think when one is talking about the theoritical, it is better to separate it from the practical. The basis of our civil war today is an entire community that was the most prominent in Mogadishu, was entirely whether supportive of Siyaad or not, whether any sub-clan of it or not, whether old or young, were uprooted from Mogadishu and an absolute and universal looting of properties took place, some of which has been rectified from the examples I have shown. This is the primary rectification, then a proper Somali government can if it wants look into before that serious offense and comb through those properties. Don't try to use the theoretical to malign the practical; that's the strategy of a small time petty crook.

"Ok well the "MAN" oppressed "us", so "I" have a right to steal from "you". That logic doesn't fly in mainstream, legitimate circles but I can understand why one community is the most interested in making that claim, after all the power in Mogadishu is almost nonexistent today and they have the most to lose from a return of rule of law.
