I hadn't read the article, but from what I gather there were no "old men" in the planes. These "old men" were meant to be picked up and used as puppets in some political scheme that threatened Jubbaland recognition, which I believe goes against what the TFG wants. TFG troops felt it necessary to ward off any dubious plots to infringe on currently accepted government plans.

If I'm wrong, anyone should correct me.
