Re: I'm going to a mowlid
Shirib,
Well I'm against them being on the government payroll, because then they can't criticise the government in any way...but then again they have to be paid somehow {in Muslim countries they are paid by the Ministry of Religious Affairs}. Also I am against the government writing up khutbahs but given the times we live in I understand why they do that.
Am I making any sense? For example the situation in Somalia, would have been prevented if we had a government that sent students to learn Islam in Morrocco, Tunis, Egypt etc instead Saudi Arabian universities offered free places to countless Somali students and we have what we have now unfortunately.

I get what you're getting at. The situation in Somalia would be much different if we weren't in war for so long. The biggest factor was the civil war. More than students learning in uni's or anything. Same thing with Afghanistan.Enlightened~Sista wrote:Shirib,

Shirib, the Taliban studied Islam in Pakistani Deobandi madrassas. These madrrassas are very extreme. Taliban/Al Shabab can never come out and be in charge even it be for a little while of countries like Egypt or Turkey or Syria. The reason being their much more balanced religious institutes.

Re: I'm going to a mowlid
Both Shabaab and Taliban came from an area where everything was anarchistic and very extreme. The religious aspects just followed suite. Taliban and Al Shabaab wouldn't have happened wouldn't have happened if their respective countries weren't wore torn enclaves run by warlords, who did every evil under the sun.Enlightened~Sista wrote:Shirib, the Taliban studied Islam in Pakistani Deobandi madrassas. it's not necessarily bad thing. it's not every mosque has same khutba. it's just they have guidelines that they cannot cross..etc political islam or whatever they call these days.Shirib wrote:whats your opinion on that?hyperactive wrote:perfect, normally, with who you celebrate with mowlid?
we have official holiday for that and all major mosques filled with government officials. it's just few reminders between maghrib and issha and there is no food nor drinks
ps; all mosques are government owned and monitored. and all imams and mu'adins are government employees.
some times i change masjids to listen different khudbas and topics. shrib, if they werent in payroll, who would pay their bills/how they take care of their families? they need to get some income for da'awa too.

Re: I'm going to a mowlid
there is good and there is bad. But you have to wonder if it is meant to help the shaykhs and ulema, or to control them. Once you control where someone gets their money, you make them less resistant to you, and less critical of you. People vary in character, and so do shaykhs, some will praise a dictator just because of who pays them. At the sametime take here for example, who pays imaams, and shaykhs? Do they not also have support?hyperactive wrote:it's not necessarily bad thing. it's not every mosque has same khutba. it's just they have guidelines that they cannot cross..etc political islam or whatever they call these days.Shirib wrote:whats your opinion on that?hyperactive wrote:perfect, normally, with who you celebrate with mowlid?

arabman, yes he is.
perfect, they do have support, which is ministry of islamic affairs. all imaams and moathiniin, they have to pass government test in order to be that. as far as i know you cannot give any lecture without licence from ministry of islamic affairs (awqaaf).

This is my favourite Qasiido. Sheraan shidaad Muraad is a fellow of the jameeco of Sheikh Nuur Xuseen (Grant is familiar) which provided spiritual guidance and contributed to social cohesion in Jilib.

Re: I'm going to a mowlid
I am lking dikri and subcis....when I was younger( like 17 etc) I was against it thinking it was bidcah, I even nearly forced my grandmother not to make bun or call wadaddo to our house. God I regret it. I apologise to my granny.
Is there anywhere in the UK( London) that I can join sufi- hadrah gatherings? I am still strictly against certain things like qabri siyaaro stuff.
Shirib,
( apology to all about talking out of topic, I just wanted to catch up with shirib).
