Shirib, Islamic financing is a market created to satisfy devout Muslims and keep them in a Middle Age mind set. Since the are over a billion Muslims in the world, there is a considerable market for the financial magicians in the City that are too eager to participate. Never mind the whole market is based on principles proper of Islamic Feudal Economies totally detached from the real world. I don't see how you can be satisfied being ignorant about this important topic, pick up a book and read and you will see what a hoax this hoopla about Islamic Banks/Islamic finance/Islamic Everything really is.

the whole system is wretched, but it's gonna end up blowing up in it's own face. All ponzy schemes come to an end, and this is just one huge ponzy scheme that we all bought into, modern banking that is

InshaAllah.

I was only asking because many people obtain a degree simply to have one, without much intention to further or specify their education. Had you been in a similar situation, I would've had some suggestions.

I agree, many people think that a degree will automatically land them a job which is (unless you're in a specific engineering program) not true. It took me a while to think of a career that suits and insha'allah I hope to stick by it

Why the insult for asking info he doesn't know? What is your response based on; personal opinion or fatwa/ruling?

common sense. i don't need no fatwa to figure this out. if you know what "riba" means you would understand. silly question really, his been paying sales tax his entire life and is asking now if he's been engaging in a major sin all along.

ps if "fatwas" are your thing, there are plenty of them on this issue.
