So the first time I went to Mog when I was a kid , we went with the family to watch a football match . It was Djibouti's armed forces against Somalia 's "waffen SS" . Djibouti lost the match but what really unsettling was the fact the Somalis wouldn't let us celebrate the only goal Djibouti scored , they almost beat us up and mind you the people who were supposed to look after us didn't do anything to protect us .
Next thing you know , we go to the movies to have us a good time ya know ?
Well , we weren't really aware of the folly of the Somalis which required them to stand up and sing te national anthem while a picture of Siyad Barre was being projected on the screen . We again almost got beat up , I got slapped for not standing up and sing like everybody else
Anyway I find myself a little bothered at times by these very traumatic childhood memories but it's all water under the bridge as they say now
