Needless to say that the somali revolution was great on her first 10 years, this is what the professor samatar believes. I made a thread about this but he changed after 77 war and start depending on his clan(marehan, ogadeen his maternal clan, dhulbahante his wifes clan)through strategic cooperation between these friendly daroods. In this era the tribalism and nepotism had began and all the abilities, the lands had been attributed to these clans. The resistance had began, however barre was still great until his car accident in 1987, he was going through psychiatry and mental disorder. This is a year ago before the bombing of hargesa, samatar and the army have trayed to save the country as barre wa suffering mentally but the army was faced by strong men who entered in clan alliance lead by maslax siyaad,morgan and gabiyoow. Despite being injured he woke up and get some information and then kept firing samatar and his group because they wouldn't respect his sons authority and he promoted his son to general and the chief of the army. From here barre was not in a full authority, it was his son and his group who were ruling and committed all the horrible atrocities on the people.this is from an article for marehan jeneral called canjeex who had worked under maaslax. He says I was fired because the men I saved from being killed had leaked the information of the jaziira atrocity. He says this was direct order from maslax and his father had no a clue about it until the information was leaked.
I have lernt the 80s part a week ago when I read this article in af somali.

You know my problem with afweyne wasn't that he was a brutal dictator, but that he made a lot of bad decisions to the point of incompetence. Also he was nowhere near as brutal as he should've been. I would've bombed every single rebel city to oblivion and killed all the survivors with ground troops. I would've purged the military until it was comprised of only competent and loyal men from my own sub-clan. I wouldn't have engaged a war with xabshis, but armed all rebel movements from every ethnic group and watch that baby explode into ethnic cleansing. I would industrialized Somalia into a manufacturing nation and built excellent universities and technical colleges (no pun intended). I would've set up secret police and hit-squads that squashed any form of dissent and controlled all forms of media. If your gonna be a ruthless dictator, do it right.

Hero. God bless his soul and forgive his mistakes. we are all human at the end of the day and taking responsibitly is not easy at all.

but anyway, was not ali smatar who ordered the bombimg of hargeysa and not siad barre? ali samatar had duty of care to his soldiers, the somali national army though. I think, the usc and snm should be ashamed of themselve for destrying the somali national army. shame.
