I think you have a reasonable point, did you know that studies have shown conservatives are more likely to be from illiterate, disenfranchised people? The reason this is occurring is because of the proliferation of Saudi-style Wahabbi Islam vis-vis the petro dollar. Poor and maligned countries like Afghanistan and Somalia are especially targets for this perversion of Islam, which bars women from driving and bans any social or societal role for women leading to poor economies. Somalis need to look to countries like Turkey and Kazakhstan to eliminate this foreign ideology that continues to breed suicide bombers.

Somalis need to return to their traditional Shaafi madhabs and abandon this destructive alien détente.

Those photos were not bias/selective, they are easily representative of the countries I've shown (besides Iran which isn't that bad, but did regress a lot).

technically, iran did receive help from usa/west. Their first (and only) research reactor was built by the americans, their only nuclear power plant were also built by the germans (finished by the russians). not to take credit away from them, they've made big achievements, but just sayin.

Well it depends what you think is regressing, if you are of the opinion thar wearing hijab is something bad then I see were you coming from but still thats your opinion and not a fact.

i'm not only talking about the hijab (which there's nothing wrong with and women in many developed countries wear it), i'm talking about every single indicator of development fell once sharia law became the "law of the land" for these countries.

this may shock you, but literacy, female participation in education, womens rights are all strong indicators of development. multicolored shrouded tents, burqas, ubiquitous maddrassas just happen to be symptoms of another failed islamic state.

The problem is education man, even I used to think in such narrow terms, Islam is a beautiful religion and at this current stage we humans have failed to properly failed to implement the sharia of yesteryear. Until the long prophesied "Mahdi" arrives I think we need to adapt to our surroundings and provide a stable, prosperous nation for our youth, not be a lab rat for destructive ideologies from the deserts of Arabia. The nerve of these people to urge jihad against infidels to "periphery" muslim nations yet their nations propagating this filth (Qatar, KSA) are in bed with US, Israel. Disgusting and hypocritical!

Usa helped Iran but that was prior to the islamic revolution. I thougt we were talking about what "islamism" has done for Iran. You are claming to sit on the truth? are you saying niqabs, young girls wearing jilbabs, madrassas, poverty etc etc are not prevalent in somalia? same goes for afghanistan? because this is what you are implying by saying those photos were selective.

those secular regimes you speak of at the time brought the highest level of prosperity these countries have ever seen in their history. the afghan government was overthrown by a soviet inspired coup, and the iranian gov was just incompetent and corrupt and people got fed up. in any case, people in these countries are yearning for the days of those regimes, just as we are for siyad barre.
