I'd prefer to go where no one knew me. I never did enjoy the obligatory "catching up" after the salah.

It's 2012. If anyone would've wanted to "catch up" there would be very little stopping them. Why put on a face for folks you see only on eid?

My point is this - why pretend to be happy to see someone on Eid, when I've put zero effort into seeing them throughout the year? It wouldn't be hypocritical of me to greet them with a hug and a smile, knowing they know I haven't even bothered with a phone call? "This dude's such a snake" is likely one of the thoughts rolling through their head.
