It's embarrassing when every culture has it's own script and we are forced to use Latin script. Even the language is ugly when you write it in latin script.

^ Your embarrassment threshold is sooooo low..my goodness! everything is embarrassing to you and everything about Somalis embarrasses you.

You are lost bro.
Re: the biggest mistake in somali history
You know, I have heard so many times that the Somali language is one of the oldst without a quention.
However, before we procede to that, we ought to bring back normality to the country.
dont you think?
first thing first!

Re: the biggest mistake in somali history
if there is something that this thread teaches me, its that somalis are dumb as fok even those born in privileged west.
if latin was not thought, we would be looking at the keyboard just like you stare at Chinese script not knowing what it says.
it would made sense to have arabic script in the middel ages but if you use latin in the modern world you will have advantage.
in the mind of these primitives somalis the arabic script is holy not knowing arabic script pre-dates prophet Mohammed(pbuh)
the latin script is one of the defining moments in somali history
somalis sometimes talk like they have inferiority complex, uqdad bay ka gabaan the west.
if I can wear a jeans, I see no problem in using latin script
ps: arabic language and arabic script are 2 different things

Why am I not surprised that a certain group of people are jumping to protect the previous regime's decision. They can't even bring a genuine argument except sheer laziness.

Re: the biggest mistake in somali history
exactly. even geeljire read wrote arabic. also most of our educated people for centuries (religious scholars of somalis) spoke arabic. learning other language wouldnt matter. in the world people easily speak read write more than one language. english or whatever language ciuld be second language.AbdiWahab252 wrote:Learning a new script is not that much more difficult. Somalis are taught quran which makes them learn to write in Arabic. In fact, unless you had access to formal school education, you may never need to use the Roman script in Somalia.
Re: the biggest mistake in somali history
Actually that kind of makes sense. If we had an Arabic script, those people in rural places could also learn to read and write Somali, since they learn Quran anyway. We wouldn't have such a bad case of illiteracy.
We would be fighting about which clan invented the script.abdi.ismail wrote:It's embarrassing when every culture has it's own script and we are forced to use Latin script. Even the language is ugly when you write it in latin script.
