Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said,

"The first man to be called on the Day of Resurrection will be Adam
who will be shown his offspring, and it will be said to them, 'This
is your father, Adam.' Adam will say (responding to the call),
'Labbaik and Sa'daik' Then Allah will say (to Adam), 'Take out of
your offspring, the people of Hell.' Adam will say, 'O Lord, how
many should I take out?' Allah will say, 'Take out ninety-nine out
of every hundred." They (the Prophet's companions) said, "O Allah's
Apostle! If ninety-nine out of every one hundred of us are taken
away, what will remain out of us?" He said, "My followers in
comparison to the other nations are like a white hair on a black ox.

does one really deserve to be tortured for eternity despite committing a crime that only lasted max. 100 yrs even if all my other deeds immensely helped the poor? If you dare ask these questions in the mosque one would be quickly labelled a heretic. Can someone please answer this?

Ever since Chavez died its been bothering me. :meles:
Allah knows best. Instead of blaming people at the Masjid, YOU should embark on your own independent Islamic studies to satisfy your curiosity.

Going by that, if you are a muslim, jannah isn't that far from you no matter how many times you mess up. Inversely, if you are a non-muslim, despite how good of a person you are, jannah is a bit too far from you given that you do not believe in 'la ilaha ilalah'. That's what we've deduced from the quran but allah knows best.

Ps. Dr. yalaxow aren't you the fella that said you'd hire a lawyer against allah on judgment day? quit your crusade against the deen.
Judging from what you've said, we at the least can deduce who will not go to Jannah. We can also infer from Qur'an and hadith that a fat oil sheikh who's made money through questionable trades and beds young Bulgarian chicks every weekend will someday go to Jannah even he's forced to endure Jahannam for 30,000 years, 'cause he's said "la ilaaha ilallah" during his biannual 'umra trips. Conversely, we can infer that the Peruvian grandmother who's only been told about Islam by that guy shouting on the corner at an intersection in Lima will pretty much end up in Hell. Forever.

Also chavez might have been guided allah aclam. But do those who attribute partners with Allah deserve jannah?
I'd like to say that you're wrong, but I've never understood that ayaat in al-Waqi'ah much myself. Still, wa thullatum minal akhireen could very well be about us.
Forgive me for judging you but you came across there as very patronizing, i only hope that weren't your intention. Laa Ilaaha Ilallaaha may not sound big to you but it is heavy in the sight of Allah. A person can commit sins reaching the height of clouds but our Lords mercy can wipe it clean. How of the case of the young man who killed 99 people and then 100'ed it with another kill but still after all this he was forgiven by Allah?

Essentially our admittance into Jannah is by Allahs mercy and not through deeds solely and even the Rasool (calayh salatu wasalaam) said this, even on account of himself. Every nation was sent a warner and one who showed them guidance. And salaam upon anyone who accepts guidance.

Cumar labasuul, Mother theresa and other big named individuals are praised upon what is seen of them in public. We can't go any further than that and leave their affairs with the grave where they are at now. You know there was a famous man amongst the Arabs in jaahiliyah, C/laahi bin Judacaan who was known for his charity and extreme generosity, he saved the Syrians from hunger when they were suffering a drought and poor people use to commute to see him. The Rasool was asked about this man and he said this man is in the Fire. For not a single day did he ever seek forgiveness from Allah. Marka qofka camalkiisa waxaa la xisaabtama Alle keliya ee inaanu dhex galno ma fiicno.

Interesting point. I've thought of this before, what of the people which do good but have never been properly introduced to Islam? They believe in the One Lord, although in the wrong belief system due to ignorance, do not cheat others and have good manners.

My conclusion is that no man regardless of his level of knowledge can answer this, the answer is with Allah and indeed he is the Most Merciful.

Then nothing we do matters.

I agree. But that isn't a conclusion which can be derived from the Qur'an and hadith.

 Won't forgive me even when i went out my way to call you 'α'?

Lol i don't see why you try to hide this ambiguity with funny statements. If nothing we did matters, is there any point to salah? zakah? sawm? If it didnt matter, then the Quran would be a book of lies ya akhi. Because Allah has promised the believers and good doers a paradise of eternity and Allah does not conflict His words. Allah attributes complete power and judgement to Himself that's why we are under His Mercy but the waajibaat upon us does not dissapear. You can reconcile both sides. Only when you realise you are merely a slave on this earth who lives on hope and fear can you really understand the essence of being Muslim.

Lol, I only reply to comments, not people. Still a dickish post, imo.

I was referring specifically to the comment you made; our admittance into Jannah is by Allah's mercy, not by our deeds. If so, nothing we do matters. Same can be said if we live an entire life of piety, as the hadith says "what was written for him overtakes him" and he's sent to Jahannam. My point? Your comment about our deeds not entering us into Jannah doesn't aid in anyone's ambition to do so. As the Prophet said, anyone who prays, fasts Ramadan, treats halaal as halaal and haraam as haraam will go to Jannah.

However, we can get into whether or not deeds mean anything, if you like.

What I think is irrelevant. I can only form conclusions based on what I've read in the Qur'an and hadiths.

Alpha: Why are you eluding the subject? What you think is not irrelevant especially after you've made the implication that it's unfair for a good nonbeliever to go to hell while a bad believer goes to heaven simply because the latter upheld that shahada. So again, the questions remain.

My original comment was in response to your first sentence: No one but allah knows who goes to jannah and who does not. There were no intended implications of "fair" or "unfair", but only reiterations of what was learnt. According to Qur'an and hadith, yes there are obvious and valid assumptions that can be made about who won't be accepted into Jannah. It's the reason why no one would dare make a thread about Ariel Sharon possibly being allowed into Jannah given his passing. And yes, the same assumptions can be made about anyone who's been told about Islam, but has rejected it and died on that.
