Re: Homeschooling. .
I am wondering if my immediate, strongly negative reaction is deserved. Maybe really early on it would allow the parents to take a keener interest and not get complacent. But still I can't picture homeschooling a teenager.
Re: Homeschooling. .
Homeschooling has both its pros and cons.
The pros are that the parents get to personally direct their children's education, spend more time with their kids, and protect them from potentially negative influences that can be picked up in both public and private school classrooms.
The main con is that their kids may not be sufficiently well socialized due to lack of consistent exposure to other kids/peers.
The jury is still out as to whether or not homeschooling is better academically-speaking than regular schooling. I think perhaps it comes down to the educators/parents and their own dedication to seeing their pupils/children succeed.

Homeschooled children outperform their peers in state and private schools, I also read somewhere that the reason behind the success of most child genuises is home education. I would definitely homeschool for a while (making sure to supplement by taking them to play groups, home education groups, libraries etc), after which I would then hand them over to someone more capable than myself.
