Absolutely not. Madoobe played the best possible card for the situation. A lot can change in 2 years including the existence of the current governement.

The Kismayo Sea Port and Air Port Management shall be handed-over to the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) in 6 months period; after which the Federal Government of Somalia shall appoint a competent management team in consultation with the Interim Jubba Administration meanwhile the current management of port prevails for the next 6 months. The Federal Government of Somalia will appoint immigration officers to all entry points.

Let me break it down for you:

1. The current administration continues to run the ports for the next 6 months.
2. Once that 6 months period has ended, the SFG and Jubbaland Admin will select a new management team. The important word here is "consultation". It means that both sides will gather around a table and decide who gets to run the ports. For some reason you seem to think that the SFG will make that decision on its own, please tell us how?
3. The SFG will place immigration officers at the ports, an excellent initiative as it gives legitimacy to Somalia's road to once again becoming a sovereign nation.

Both sides compromised however if anything, it is the SFG - which once said that they'd never recognise Madoobe's admin - who have lost this political battle.

Madobe always knew that he is mere Cagdheer who have no say nor influence in Somali politics. They are technically refugees in Somali soil. Their master is Ethiopia and what Ethiopia tells them is the holy text that no one can challenge. When Ethiopia told Madobe he must respect the wishes of Somalia's Federal Government he had no choice but to submit and sign the deal while Farole was kept outside.

When Farole heard the Cagdheer Islamist Madobe was submitting because his Ethiopian master got him inside his room, he rushed to Nairobi to work something out with the Kikuyu but the Kikuyu know once the fish is inside the jaws of the shark (Ethiopia) they can't do anything. So Farole ran to Addis Ababa to beg but he was blocked from entering any of the meetings.

Ethiopia understands the game now and knows their interest is with pleasing Mogadishu and that is the only way to maintain Ethiopia-Somalia relations. For the rest there is Abdi Iley and Liyu Police. They will be unleashed like mad dogs...they will sniff every opposition including ONLF and associates.

Farole never had any influence on Madobe. THe Cagdheer know the MJ can't do anything for them. Only Hawiye can fight for them and now that they are made to go against the Hawiye, things look promising. The final nail on the coffin is getting the Hawiye to control Kismayo while not giving them too much power to manipulate the region and help ONLF and likes. Its a great counter balance to Ethiopia's advantage.

For months I have been advising the Ethiopian government and finally they are taking serious action. The next thing is sending Ethiopian forces inside Gedo, the lower Jubba.

Hawiye just need to mind their own business.

Under the terms of Wednesday's deal, Madobe will be leader of the interim Juba Administration for a period of two years.
