Re: I really feel for Scandinavian people
Abdi, yes but that depends on how good you speak Danish/Swedish/Norwegian. 10 years ago I was able to understand them all perfectly but now I struggle to even understand Danes.
Danish sounds the best though, Swedes sound like they are singing and Norwegians are in a never ending battle with their tongues, forcing out unnecessary sounds and letters when they speak.
Deeqa, he does actually say xey ahayd when he looks up lol sorry I thought he didn't know what to say next.

the best amongst the scandevians are the danish. They are awesome people. RESPECT
Re: I really feel for Scandinavian people
No such thing as "the best." People are people, and I'm sure the Danish aren't angels. One episode, the Jyllands-Posten, was particularly ugly on part of the Danish people.HooBariiska wrote:the best amongst the scandevians are the danish. They are awesome people. RESPECT

Is it like the the Scots, the Irish and the Englishmen? We all speak English, just with a varied dialect though Welsh is completely different.Ismail87 wrote:Abdi, yes but that depends on how good you speak Danish/Swedish/Norwegian. 10 years ago I was able to understand them all perfectly but now I struggle to even understand Danes.

Re: I really feel for Scandinavian people
Marques, maya saxib it is not like the British and their dialects. The main differences between Scandinavians are the pronunciations and sometimes the spelling.
English - I had a pleasant day to day.
Norwegian - Jeg hadde en hyggelig dag i dag.
Swedish - Jag hade en trevlig dag idag.
Danish Jeg havde en hyggelig dag i dag.
English - I'm not doing anything at the moment.
Norwegian - Jeg gjør noe for øyeblikket.
Swedish - Jag gör ingenting just nu.
Danish - Jeg laver ikke noget i øjeblikket.
Not much difference but as you already know the only difference between the Brits is verbal and not written. That is not the case with Scandinavians, hence why I said Swedes sound like they are singing opera and Norwegians fight with their tongues.

Re: I really feel for Scandinavian people
Marques, I don't think it's anything like english speakers around the world, remember english all come from england, and went out to scottland, ireland, wales, America, Canada, Australia, all relatively recently. Scandinavians all basically spoke the same language a thousand years ago, old norse, but each country slowly developed their own differences, with the Danish being heavily influenced by Germany, Dutch, because at one time they were ruled by them and the closeness. Denmark and Norway were baiscally one country until about 200 years ago, which is why their writing is identical, and were both administered from Denmark, while Sweden kept it's independence. Norweigian is a middle language between the two, and they have the easiest time understanding both language, swedish and danes have the hardest time understanding each other which is only about 30-40% of the time.
I think the best relations is Afmaxaatir iyo Afmaymay, we share a lot of words and grammar but we don't understand each other perfectly.

The Dutch and the Germans ruled Denmark? When?
It was the Danes who ruled the whole of Scandinavia under Margaret I.
Swedes and Danes understand each other better than that saxib Swedes from Skåne (South western Sweden) almost speak danish.

Re: I really feel for Scandinavian people
I must of misread it somewhere, but I know the language was heavily influenced by at least German.
Sweden has many accents, and yes the closer the people are to each other the better they understand each other, but even then, the Danish have a really bad time understanding swedes, though for example they understand those from malmo a lot better than one from stockholm.
