You must never lose heart. It is our responsibility, nay, our privilege to raise our desperately ignorant and seemingly hopeless people from the pitiful state they find themselves in. We must never accept the idea that our people are inherently savage, nor must we ever acquiesce to the demands of those who would hold our people back from their birthright through bigotry, hatred, and the perpetuation of myths/archaic forms of social organization ill suited for a modern state in this century.

Despite a few dark moments where I began to question my hitherto unshakeable belief in the Somali spirit, I have realized that it is a lack of willpower and courage that has left our people on the precipice of doom.
