Some of the people back home are unbelievably materialistic and love to live beyond their means..and guess what you have to foot the bill. They will not be content with any android, iphone maxaad u keeni weyday ayey ku odhan. No one in my family has an iphone alhamdullilah we're far from materialistic and can be content with any good phone. Waad acuudubileeysanaysaa at some of the stuff they say. They want to live your lifestyle without any work, effort and on your remittances!

Somali's love it anywhere but in Somalia. That is the bottomline; doesn't matter if they are rich or poor...they want out, even if it means lower living standards comparatively.

Not just Somalis do this dreaded trip (all Africans and Asians), even Eastern Europeans used to do it.

Even those that work for NGO's that effectively means they are well off still are formulating ways to leave Somalia by any means.
Saw this many times during meetings back there.

Blame the stupid war. Before Somalis were only found in the Gulf, Yemen & Eastern Africa due to those countries proximity, and work opportunities. The ones who were in India and the West etc were sent away as International students.

Now, you will find Somalis who have run off to Nepal of all places, literally you will find them everywhere in the world not as expatriates or students as before but qaxoonti. Where ever there is a dirty squalid UNHCR camp even if it's in the North Pole you will find Somalis standing in a queue ready to waste their lives away in the hopes that one day(20years down the line) they might get sent to the West. It doesn't matter that back in Somalia they had food to eat, a roof over their head, could send their kids to school, monthly biil from relatives abroad. Once their children leave schools in Somalia Kenya, Tanzania or Sudan are next door and from what i heard have excellent universities.
