Somalis are still stuck in a medieval pastoral mindset of my tol/my tuulo. This mindset is what will destroy the somali race. I believe a united somali race under one authoritarian ruler for one purpose would be unstoppable. Darood and Siad barre had his chance and blew it when he turned into a paranoid cuqdadle. Hawiye had the chance but Aidiid and Ali Mahdi decided to eat eachother. Isaaq had the chance for the last 14 years but it decided to bury it's head in the sand while it's slowly losing time as southern somalia becomes a AU cashcow or ethiopian/kenyan colony.

Why would Isaaq sacrifice their blood and sweat for Somali kale? We did that in 1960 until 1991 and once is enough.

without trying to blame Moqadisho residents -the rest of the country is stable with no major conflicts. But if your heart is bleeding so is your entire body. Once Moqdisho gets back to it's glory days (multi-clan city) , we will be just fine

I do agree that they are very business savvy people but to have a unity within a group you have to have some ideology to use as a base. The Isaaq's have this on a larger level and the Darods -some it may be added on subclan level others no different than the Hawiye. Now the Hawiye are the most fractured group within all Somalia and all these african peacekeepers have a one purpose; to stop Hawiyes killing each other. It seems this idea of resuscitating the Somali state is one framework to have them all pedaling towards the same direction. However, this idea hits the fan when it comes to bringing in other Somalis who have zero impact in the decision making with their only use being window dressing.....
How sweet of you defending dooros but do you mind explaining what amisom is doing in gedo and the jubbas?

Substance lets be honest dooros Will always try to undermine hawiye led gov and hawiye the same. If the president was a dooro i doubt he would do a better job than hsm.
I was not sucking upto anyone, infact my own personal option is a dominant united Hawiye controlling southern Somalia. Everything I stated is facts based on whats on the ground. Now you may disagree with my assessment but when you considered how many Hawiye mamuls exists just within Habar Gider who are unable to unite at sub clan level, then you get a better picture of the point I was raising. This elephant in the room - The socalled SFG is the on show in town for Hawiye, the other option being al-shabab. Now this SFG is a Hawiye organisation parading under a national cloak and it wont fly.

As for the Doros they are united on subclan level. But not along Darod level. I did point out not all of them are united example the northern Kashmiris.

I think the only way Somali can return is from a bottom up approach with a huge national dialogue to speak with eachother across tables without any outsiders. The people have to want a country a nation not individuals hiding behind tribal names to empty the what little money is donated by generous international donors. In short Somalis need to focus on building region to region and then uniting those regions...

skywalker, are you becoming a unionist? i sense a new attitude in you, a one that's rooting for :som: and a unity between somalis at all cost.
somalis will insult one another, kill one another, destroy each other, but when it comes to :som:, they are one and should be one

Both Skywalker and Thuganomics are unionist... many of my isaaq friends are in the open hardcore somalilanders but each and everyone of them would entertain the idea Skywalker just proposed and millions of somalis have in the past. Lets sit across each other and raise our issues to one and another and start a bottom up approach. ..

Well dissapointed in somaliland and puntland for not seeing this opportunity... our leaders sit next to each other in jigjiga for the ethiopian cultural festival but cant visit each other in hargeisa or garowe...bunch of twats...liars and deceivers

To you being a unionist means putting Darod interests ahead of everything to me it means putting the Union ahead of everything. As for whether I support this, we have been down this road and seen the ending of that movie, so no. I dont support any kind of union and my advice was for those Somalis who pretend to be nationalist but when you scratch the surface have a tribal core . hint hint

I dont know man. I wouldnt say that now. Few years back ? Yes ? But not now in 2014. The thing is we already had suffered in every way possible and there is no going down anymore as we had touched the bottom.
Also Allah has promised us that after every hardship comes ease. Marka niyow nafta qeyr u sheeg, rajada ma xumee.

I agree with gijamac before this issue can ever be raised, there has to be trust....something that wont be achieved in our generation.
heck even previous generation of nomads fought each other, when was there ever a united Somali's??????

the priority is for everyone to retreat to their areas and back to the drawing boards and to rebuild their cities and countryside.

but the concept of trust will take a long time.

Giving up is not a option, perhaps fix yourself and Somalia will get better. Somalia will not get better until all Somalis fix themselves, they are hateful to one another and not united at all. Obviously the non-Somalis will take advantage of us.

Rome wasn't built in one day. Somalia will reach it's good goal, but not overnight. It needs lots of efforts, periods and ideas. :som:
