Personally the Best Manga ever is the Golden age arc of Berserk or Monster (but I prefer the anime).
Best anime for me is Cowboy Bebop, nothing can touch it. Even the movie is awesome. But aside from that I'm a big fan of Satoshi Kon, especially Perfect Blue and Tokyo Godfathers.

I couldn't agree more about the works by Naoki Urasawa... Soon as I read 20/21st century boys and Pluto, I was hooked on the seinen/psychological genre and have pretty much devoured all the good mangas from that specific genre. Takehiko inoue is my all time favorite mangaka especially for his art work in Vagabond and Real.
To keep things brief:
Top 5 manga I would recommend (besides Naoki works): Real, Vagabond, Vinland Saga, Shamo, Holyland

20th Century Boys is in a league of its own, a page turner if there ever was one, did not take long to finish at all but was completely immersive. Monster to have HBO treatment I am told so here hoping!
Vagabond is great, Inoue has some of the best art in comics, ever. His brushwork is boss!

I totally see why you prefer the anime, it was a very faithful adaptation, the music selection and voice acting was great! You should definitely check out 20th Century Boys, or any of Urosawa's other work, he is masterful.
RIP Satoshi Kon

I've been meaning to check out 20th Century boys but I've been stalling, thinking it's some childhood coming-of-age slice-of-life nonsense. What exactly is the premise?

Like most of the works by Naoki Urasawa, like Billy the Bat and Monster, there is a main antagonist who is shrouded in mystery who has gained control of the world. It is up to a group of childhood friends who are now adults to save the world and find out who this person is. You might think it sounds like a typical adventure/action/shounen but man its not. Give it a shot.

Lord knows its not
It really has a great atmosphere and much like other Urosawa work the characters are brilliantly realised, if you liked Monster you will most definitely like this.

loll, Im actually repeating parts in my head

I didn't know all the raps though, did you? I only knew one kid who memorized all of them loll I think there was 5?
I think half the terror from the show is they are actually ugly bastards, terrifying almost. They look like humans, but they are NOT so it's confusing to see them acting so un-human. If they looked like monsters, it may not have the same shock-factor.
